If the player is not disciplined, then knowledge will not help...

Hello. I have read almost all the comments - guys, I agree with you and I want to say that everything you listed, I sum up in one word for myself: advantage. I would also highlight diligence, in the sense that having reached a certain level, one should not stop and rest on one's laurels - there is always something to learn and improve.

A successful poker player embodies a blend of skill, discipline, and psychological fortitude. They grasp game intricacies, exploit opponents' weaknesses, and adapt strategies dynamically. Effective bankroll management and emotional control are fundamental. Continuous learning and self-reflection drive improvement, while resilience fuels longevity in the game.

What makes a player successful is study, concentration, a good healthy life, having clear objectives and never stopping learning, even the champion himself has things to improve.

Patience, persistence and practice are the main things. With that you have to put in study and review time if you are really serious about the game. Talking to others of various skill levels (both higher and lower) about different events, hands, formats, ect can also increase your knowledge and skill.

Mastering skills is lucky and you have to win 2 out of 3 hands 😀.

No. 1 and the most important is a good Bankroll Management: - if you want to succeed in Poker you need a strong bankroll management, without it you will not get far.
No. 2 is discipline : - you need to be disciplined in order to not deviate from your strategy... ( study daily, don't play emotional, don't play tired )
No. 3 is desire to improve : - since Poker is a constantly evolving you have to keep up, and in order to do that, you have to want to become better and better...to achieve that you need to study all the time.
No. 4 is luck : - luck is always involved in Poker, but what is more important is that luck is not the defining thing here...your skills learned by hard work and consistency will make you profitable in long term.

For me it's a combination of emotional control and patience. In the short term, luck may define the winner of a hand, but in the long term it is study, discipline, and bankroll management that differentiate who wins from those who lose.

In the long run, it's definitely more about skill than luck. Luck decides what happens in a single hand or even over a short stretch, but skill is what separates winning players over thousands of hands. The biggest skills are solid bankroll management, understanding ranges, position, pot odds, discipline, emotional control, and being able to adjust to different opponents. Anyone can run hot for a while, but consistently beating the games takes a lot of study and good decision-making.

I think a successful poker player is someone who consistently makes good decisions, not someone who wins every session. Discipline, bankroll management, emotional control, and always being willing to learn from mistakes are what separate long-term winners from everyone else. Patience is also a huge part of success.

I'd say poker is mostly skill in the long run, but luck has a huge impact in the short term. Anyone can win or lose on a given day because of variance, but over thousands of hands, the better players consistently come out ahead.
The biggest skills are solid decision-making, bankroll management, emotional control, discipline, and the willingness to keep studying and adapting. Knowing the math is important, but staying calm after a bad beat and avoiding tilt is what separates many winning players from losing ones.🧐

I barely win in poker, but I know that courage, aggressiveness, skill, and hopefully, define success.

Poker is both about skill and luck. When it comes to online poker, I would say luck is the more important factor. When it comes to live poker, I would say skill is the more important factor.

Although luck plays an important role in the short term, winning at poker in the long run depends primarily on skill. Poker is a game of incomplete information, decision-making, and risk management, where variance can hide the difference in skill level over thousands of hands, but eventually the advantage of the better player tends to emerge.
