When ever there is a chance you can win money instead of working for it you can run into addiction.

There are plenty of ways you can play for free with no monetary risk if you love playing. The chance of winning money drives most people.

Always try to find balance in your life and keep in perspective what is important.

For sure be careful if you have limited funds and only play for money you can afford to lose. Poker can easily gobble up you spare time and cash!!

I replaced my addiction of social media (joined CardsChat only recently, loving it) and video games with poker. As far as addictions go, this one is far more lucrative. Addiction to the game and its mechanics is quite different from an addiction to trying your luck.

I agree poker can spend your time more hours than recomendable. We must take care about our work and real life also.

I do not know. One can become addicted to very dangerous things: cigarettes, alcohol, drugs ... And obviously, women too. I think this latest addiction is much more dangerous than poker and any other.
Now, seriously, I think one must choose: to play for fun, seeing the possibility of having a good time, or to play by obligation, or to feel that it is by obligation, that you cannot stop, which is already an addiction too...:cool::cool:

You can be addicted to anything. I was addicted to Dota2 in college. Addiction is about unhealthy obsessions that cut into your work/life/social balance. Poker can definitely fill that role.
