A large percentage of players cant even break even while playing online poker.
Most recreational players only brag about the occasional wins and rarely tell you their actual ROI or real profits after subtracting the money paid to play.

I started at PokerStars about a year ago playing only freerolls and HomeGame today I have more than $ 50 dollars I had more but I mismanaged my bank. In the future with more experience more study and more control I know that it will be more profitable.

I’ve been playing less in the last few days because I was on vacation with a buddy and the net wasn’t thankful for heaven, so I didn’t have a chance to sit down drunk to play.:) It was good these few days to relax

Is poker profitable?
well it depends on the player but if you have the discipline to take it as a job instead of a game and put the required time to master it well definitely

Not at all. And it is like this for years i think. 8 months ago i started to drink antidepressants and while i use those drugs i am fine. And this corona party and lost of job didn't help me at all.
Actually i dont like my life at all, i wish i could finish it.

A pleasant session came together yesterday. At the beginning NL5 SH (I pushed on normal and zoom tables) then went down as many hands as I planned, so I left 1-2 normal SH tables and then sat back at my home limits. Things were pretty nice there, but by the end I thought I'd fix it, so I handed out a set shortly before sitting out.

Poker I think can be profitable ,depending on how much you play. I think playing too much, you might end up losing, so might not be profitable.

You must invest for sure, time, maybe money. I guess if you enjoy your experience its profitable, otherwise its an investment.

It can be profitable but only for a few people and not constantly. And of course it is profitable for those who own poker rooms.

Poker profitable? Or not?
I will try to explain this with my ugly English :D. Imagine you have some starting capital and you live in some "fantasy world", country without taxes, laws, nothing. And you have a roulette wheel. You don't want to work, to lie, to steal, to kill :D or something else. You want to make money from this roulette. On the street :D.
Ok, you have 2.7% more chance to win. Because of the zero. This means, if someome bets $10, you win 27 cents (in a long run). if it happens 100 times today, you will win $27. Not so much..You can't live with that. And you can lose all your "roll". How risky is it, depends on his "size". Let's say you have only $100, this is very risky, pure gambling. But if you have $1000, now that's a reasonable "roll". Ok, but what about if you "have" 500 bets on this roulette today!? Seems pretty cool then. $135 profit. Reasonable profit per day.

How to "find" the same thing in the "real" world!? They a lot of games, not only poker. But you choose poker. You must do the same things.

Find a edge..You pay a rake, but you play against the people, not against the casino. They can make mistakes. You can use better starting hands. You can recognize the +EV situations, because you can define their ranges. You can use "the tendencies of the field", you can use a software, you can use notes, an observations. And you can use the logic. How you expect the people to play and with what range on this board. In this situation. You can use the logic, the math and the info. And there is your edge. But this edge must be bigger from the "casino edge". You are not "searching" for "2.7% edge" but for "5% + 2.7% edge".

The volume...The "bets". Now this depends on you. You are not behind the wheel, on the street, waiting for someone. Hoping, praying :D...This is your "work". You must do that. But if you make many bets (hands), you can start to play bad. You can use the logic, the math and the info in inefficient way. You can have a volume, but not a edge. All this depends on you. Your knowledge, your experience and your motivation.

Build a roll....Or steal it. Or sell some cookies. Doesn't matter. You need this. To play poker.

Amen!

Unfortunately, I have not really profitable. I usually paid 50 usd. but I'm losing end of the month. It was bigger prize you? If so write about it. Good luck for everyone;)

don't believe to just come to a tourney and win, remember everyone wants to win everyone has the same goal top prize, playing well is hard work because there's a lot of info that needs to be collected along the way about your opponents for decision making later on

Just as an add-on, my old habit of having more rooms, a variety of games, even at the same time… I couldn’t completely undress even now (I’d love to comment on that, maybe it’s not good to play in more rooms at once… haunt “luck” or consistently build the BR in one place… choose from the two)
