Poker

I believe that poker is by no means a profitable activity. Poker brings a lot of experiences and nerves into our lives. If you manage to win some major tournament, then you feel an inner devastation and for a very long time you cannot tune in to everyday life.

The big problem with online poker cash games is variance. In online poker, winning 5 blinds on 100 hands is a very good value. But the variance in poker has brutal effects when you have a low win rate. The variance in poker is said to be 100 blinds per 100 hands. If your win rate is 5 blinds on 100 hands, which as I said is a very good value, then you can be 95 blinds in the minus on 100 hands! You have to play a lot of hands to even out the variance. For someone who only plays 2 tables for 2 hours a day, it is impossible to beat the variance. You must play 20 tables for 8 hours a day to beat the variance. Then you play so many hands that the variance doesn't matter. So you get your win rate of 5 blinds for 100 hands.
If you cannot do this because you have a full time job then online poker is not profitable for you

It can be profitable but it likely wouldn’t be a steady income, or something you can count in

For me? No poker is not really profitable if I tried to make money doing it, but it is probably the best gambling game to be profitable in if you put the time into it.

I believe if a person rolled up their sleeves and got serious about it, poker could be much like a profession, definitely profitable.

profitable is easy, especially at micros. If you play cash or higher buyin tournies, it gets considerably harder.

Gambling is not profitable by nature and that includes Poker. Obviously, gambling was never meant to be something profitable because for someone to win, someone else must lose.

Poker and any other form of gambling is profitable only for the house. The rest of us can only hope to profit out of the losses of our fellow poker players.

Some have found a way to make it profitable for themselves, but this doesn't make poker the way to profit by investing your time and money.

Most people play just for fun and some do make a profit. The few players that are making a living out of it depend on the many that are losing money.

To talk about sustainable profitability in poker (with near zero risk?), you must be the house.

I’ve already given up half-time to ever have a stable, acceptable income out of this. If something trickles down later, of course I’m happy about it, but I wouldn’t chase dreams like that for now. I’m glad I haven’t failed so much so far, but from now on I’m very restrained and mostly only play freerolls.

I think very few can realy make stable income playing poker. You have to be really tough and have full control of your emotions. Focus only on a process of making good decisions and taking every opportunity to win more and lose less, not ever focusing on what what you get from playing. You really have to love the game.

I think it can be profitable thanks to the crypto I win in freerolls. Bitcoin has become pretty good...and yes, I do own some that I will keep for a long time.

I like to gamble
I'm even on Lotto having won $15,000 a few years ago.
In poker I'm ahead, but I don't get carried away. That is when you will lose. So poker for me is profitable, and that is the only gambling I win at.
I did quite good on horses for a while, but I'm in a dreadful slump at the moment.
Sports betting was good but again I hit a bad patch.
Play poker very carefully, don't join the retards and say it is rigged, and yes poker can be profitable.
Most of all my advice is to learn the game in depth, before you start spraying money around.

For the majority of people (myself included), I would argue that poker is not profitable, but an enjoyable leisure activity that costs money. This is because to continually beat the odds and overcome the variance, you need to constantly study and become well-versed with new poker methodologies. That way you become the best in the game and continue winning.

Today was suffering on NL4. I'm playing at 6 Max and I'm sitting for $ 4. Then it doesn't take about 5 minutes and I'm in $ 4 again (They've been picked up) ... Then I moved to NL10 for 6 max I played a few hands and then stopped.

It is certainly very profitable, when you have the discipline to always play the same tournaments without compromising your bankroll and turning a lot in the medium to long term it becomes profitable to play right.

Poker is a game played between people. So as long as you can find people to play against who play worse than you, then it will always be profitable.

I think this is one of the biggest mistakes that people make these days, is trying to play in games full of good players.

It is better to find the easier games full of recreational players and you will find it much more profitable.

This is something that I talk about more in my latest video.

It is not profitable for me. I usually lose 50-60 dollars a month. But it can be profitable for some people. My brother won about 30000 dollars. So it is possible.

Only if you spend a lot of time studying and practice good bankroll management and game selection.
