I play a live tourney in my neighborhood on Thursdays. When one of the guys was handling the chips, he rotated his wrists and showed his palms like a dealer occasionally does, so I had some fun and mimicked it.

He said “We’ve had some issues with a player stealing chips” and he showed me 4 or 5 videos of the player doing that very thing, taking several chips from a pot someone else won, before sliding the rest to them.

They bring his name up often, but this was the first time I saw him in action. Made me sick.

After he was caught the first time, by the player pretending to scroll FB while recording him, the guy apologized and returned some of his winnings. Then he was later caught dealing himself aces off the bottom of the deck, and he is now banned.

I’m guessing he grew up cheating like that and it’s in his blood. Just can’t stop himself. It was wild to see videos of it.

Wow he was caught cheating and they let him stay in the game with honest players???,

the guy apologized because he was caught not because he intended to stop,

..don't think I will ever understand the tolerance for allowing that kind of thing 👎

The story not ending with him stealing chips is the wild part. This guy must have had blackmail on the person running the game because why else would you let someone like that back?

Lmfao not banned after the first time caught cheating is a freaking joke. You're a terrible game runner and host. He's very lucky he wasn't caught cheating at my home game. He would got the Worm(from Rounders treatment) and ended up in the hospital. My players don't fool around or play games when it comes to cheaters and that's explained to all new players before they even sit down what they're risking by cheating. We've had our home game running for 20+ years now and have had zero cheaters. Have a had a few guys take a pass at playing once they learned of the consequences of cheating at our games thou.

Cheers!!!

I think most of these guys have not even seen Rounders, which shocks me, but I recommended it partially for the Worm character.

I haven’t seen a reason not to trust the host yet. He needs as many as possible willing to fill a minimum of 6 seats each week. He does a lot for the neighborhood aside from providing an awesome venue, and seemed as disappointed as the rest of the guys about allowing a cheater in their midst.

I really like how the guy who caught him handled it, so that it didn’t turn into a brawl like The Sheriff’s Game in Rounders. He just let the guy hang himself and handed over the evidence.

On a side note, I don’t have a ton of experience in leagues, but this is the toughest group I’ve played against. They will chase you the whole way, and I haven’t adjusted well enough to win the main game yet.

Host your own, or make sure you know the host well.

Also, don't play with sketchy people. Usually you'll just know. Most folks ignore the red flags because they don't want to rock the boat or give up 'a good opportunity'. The cheats want you to feel that way.

That's pretty low stealing from your friends at a game. :( Closest I've ever seen to that was our Christmas Eve afternoon games where I worked over forty years ago. It was a nickel/dime dealer's choice game and the Doog, one of the salesmen, would squirrel away money now and then during the course of the game. Just unethical and not really cheating.

Agreed, stealing from friends, neighbors, etc.

The group likes to sit in the same seats every time, with any newbies like myself to the left or right of the tourney clock runner.

I didn’t understand that at first, but now I do.

Trying to get them all to watch Rounders so they can meet Worm. 😉

I have seen this happen a couple of time, both times with a new player that was brought by a reg.

Both times they were given a choice of waiting outside for the game to finish or a less pleasant option, both times they chose to wait outside.

The guy that brought the cheater was always the most upset about it.

Cheating is unjustifiable, not only in betting, in sports in everything, also because it detracts from one's personal effort.
