Are we completely certain that the online poker site hasn't programmed a specific algorithm just to give the guy named 'LuckyDuck99' a runner-runner straight every time I flop top set?😂😭

I think it's just better to scare the algorithm with usernames like: IknowYourSeed ;)

Haha, every poker player has had that exact thought at some point. When you lose a huge pot after flopping top set, especially to some random player like "LuckyDuck99" hitting a runner-runner straight, it feels impossible. But over a big enough sample size, those crazy hands are going to happen.

Could a site technically rig games? Sure, anything is theoretically possible, but reputable poker sites have a lot to lose and are regularly audited. The more likely explanation is just variance and our brains remembering the brutal beats while forgetting all the times we got there ourselves. Poker is really good at making normal probability feel personal.

I'm absolutely certain that online poker is rigged, they make bad and beginner players win constantly during the first few days, the goal is to increase their confidence, after they think they're good and deposit more money, they take it all from them, that's how casinos survive, Online Poker ended with the arrival of Artificial Intelligence, I just play for fun.

Ever since I put "Tilt" in my nickname, I’ve become a millionaire on GGPoker, WPT, and 888. I read that their system respects the name "Tilt" but penalizes things like "Shadow something," "Nameless," "CaioRJ" and similar names.

IF they're winning constantly over the first few days why would there be a need to deposit? Your theory doesn't hold up.
Actually the online poker site doesn't "take it all from them" (... and this certainly has nothing to do with how they survive). They make their money by charging rake/tourney fees to play the games.

When you say "I just play for fun", what does that actually mean? Does it mean 'I don't try to win because it feels futile because I'm up against the system'? Because for me this just sounds like an excuse to not get better at the game. I've been playing online poker for 19 years and for maybe a week or two in my second month of playing I thought that maybe the sites were rigged. It only took me taking a tiny bit of time getting more educated on the game to realize I didn't know nearly as much about the game as I had assumed I did. I also had the privilege of following a certain Cardschat member's posts (dmorris) who would provide some very technical posts in the 'Rigged MEGA Thread' (it is really unfortunate that some of his posts weren't stickied because they were fantastic).

tldr - Get better... the game's not rigged.

If this happens every time you flop a set against LuckyDuck99, then you need to adjust and start over folding lol

I don't need to improve, I played professionally for 1 year and reached this conclusion, sites flag you when you start winning a lot and strange things happen, last week I deposited 6 dollars on Pokerstar and turned it into 30 dollars in 2 days, just playing NL 2, so I understand both Cash and Tournament, in both strange things happen, especially when you win a lot, this isn't profitable for them, even charging fees, there can't be a shark capturing all the newbies' chips, that's not good for them, so they flag you and you start losing.

I think what u mean is u tried poker a bit out spending most of ur time and after one year when sample started to be more and more meaningful u realized its not for you. A real Pro (im talking "western pro" =20k USD minimum in yearly winnings on average) plays afaik in 99 % already for years.

Making 30 Dollars in a short time on NL2 after depositing only 3 buy-ins means mostly u were running hotter than the sun. I mean congratulations to your win but it does not prove too much. If u could repeat that over and over it would mean something but do u even continue when things stop going your way? My guess is not 🤷

We never know it... but we can measure if it is profitable for us or not... it cannot be something that we always win or always lose.

I wasn't lucky, I play professionally, I've mastered all the Pre and Post Flop from GTO Wizard, it's not luck, I was playing according to what theory defines as the most profitable way, the 6 dollars was just an example, I've done this several times, not only on Pokerstar, I've also done it on 888Poker, the only site I couldn't do it on was GG Poker, because that's the most rigged of them all, things are even more absurd on that site. What I mean is that it's impossible to make a living from Poker, because the site will hold back your winnings when you win a lot, you mentioned 20 thousand dollars, that's a good amount if you live in Latin America or Southeast Asia, where the cost of living is cheap, but in the West you can't live on that amount, not even living in a van like low-income Americans do, that's a ridiculous amount compared to the time you need to spend to beat variance, you can make that amount in a single operation in Forex.

And yet there are people who are winning players. Does the site not hold back their money too?

Sometimes it feels like the software has marked you. It just won't deal you any good hands, and sometimes it even keeps giving you the same starting hands over and over again. It's really frustrating when that happens.

Ok 👍

Well u are entitled to ur opinion but basically what u are saying is that u didn't made it as a pro because of the riggedness, correct? But this would mean noone could do it, no? Arent there many people who actually do or did exactly this? Some even for way higher amounts than 20k/year on average? No winners at all on lowstakes/midstakes+ in the long run u mean?

btw I mentioned 20k as a minimum. And yes u can live with that amount as a single person in the west. Even with less. But its a shitty live for most people.

There are a lot of strange coincidences in poker. Sometimes too many. Of course, you can draw various conspiracy conclusions, but it is better to ignore such moments and continue to improve your game. This is the optimal solution.

An industry insider source has told me, that their system also punish people, who play with a picture of Gus Hansen or Phil Ivey on their account, but it reward those, who put a picture of their newborn baby :)

I remember playing on 888poker—I was around level 70—and one day, after burning through several $1 tournament buy-ins and constantly getting unlucky on the river, I decided to start entering via late registration. Sure enough, I went for a bounty against an opponent with 7,000 chips and ended up winning a $150 bounty; I remember calling with J-4 offsuit—exactly the kind of hand you shouldn't call with. After that, I kept running into a user named "BA888" in every 888poker tournament; he never lost. I saw with my own eyes—this is a true story—him go all-in 23 times and win 23 tickets.

Are we completely certain that the online poker site hasn't programmed a specific algorithm

Some really fun posts - I want to be "LuckyDuck99" , now back on-topic about the software conspiracy - I'm the kind of person that doesn't want to think about stuff like this that can drastically affect my game, so I'm always doing my research before picking a poker site -of course I only play on licensed sites and hopefully this regulatory authorities are doing a good job to make the games fair/safe for the customers... unfortunately, where money is involved shady stuff will always be around - this is even more true when it's about gambling activities where the random number generator (RNG) and/or the luck is a factor can be very important, especially for short-term results...

When our cards don't hit, it can really feel like the poker site doesn't want us to win. But I think we tend to remember only the bad beats. There are also plenty of times when we end up winning on the river ourselves, but we usually don't remember those because the tournament continues and we just move on to the next hand. When we lose an all-in on the river, though, our tournament is over, and that moment sticks with us much more. That can make it feel like there's some kind of conspiracy against us, when in reality it was just bad luck at that moment.
