GG Poker variances are somewhat crazier than other apps...in my experience...

If that's true, just play with bad hands and you'll win every tournament🤣

Its amazing, how many people have claimed over the years, that bad hands always win on (whatever) site. Yet none of them seem to follow your simple suggestion on how to exploit the system, now that they figured it out... ;)

This is actually a really good point. No other poker site, I have played on, does this, and for me its with a distance the most annoying feature of GG Poker. When I am all-in before the river, I just want the cards to be dealt and get it over with. I have zero need to drag it out before knowing, if my hand held, or if my opponent hit their ace or flush on the river. And as you say, GG Poker do this to mess with peoples heads. They want their customers to become gamblers rather than poker players, because in this way they can make more profit for the owners of the site.
But why are you pushing back against so many opinions critical of GGPoker? Are you some sort of secret lawyer for them? Do you know things no one else does? Or do you simply have a fetish for defending big corporations on internet forums? Look, as an ordinary citizen—which I assume you are—you can only have an opinion; no one here can be certain about anything.

I feel like those variances on GG Poker are crazy!!! I won't lie those bad beats which I get there due to some odd variances makes me wonder - did i just get GG'd again lol!! I play on other apps but I don't really get that many bad ezperiences as I do on GG - is it the players or the RNG - I don't think I'm the only one - share with me - if you think im crazy lol!!
Good afternoon. The best thing you can do is stop playing there and only play on the sites you like the most.Sadly for you, it happens everywhere.

I think it is because the App is stacked with loads of players. I use stake recently with way less players and I'm back to winning ways

It’s universally agreed that GGpoker is the home of bad beats; I don't think it's a matter of variance, but rather the site's own algorithm, which is designed to work that way.

Hi:) and welcome to the Cardschat forum.
The same win-loss scenarios occur in live poker as well; overall, GGPoker has improved upon this game format compared to other online poker rooms and offers fast-paced games for those looking to play for a short session. GGPoker has indisputably risen to the top of the online poker world.

I am not "defending" GG Poker or for that matter any other poker site. But there is a huge difference between being critical about certain policies or features of a site and claiming, that the site is rigged with zero evidence to back up your accusations. These claims are very damaging for the trust in online poker, and since this is a poker forum, I (and many others) continue to push back against them.

Good morning everyone. This is a common perception created by our brains.

When I started playing poker in 2018, I had the impression that the sites were programmed to favor the players with more chips, especially in K.O. MTTs. Over time, I started watching videos from very successful players explaining this subject, and I began to understand how it really works.

Think about this: there are many extremely intelligent players who study the game using solvers, study GTO, analyze database statistics and hand histories, and constantly check whether the results are consistent with poker's mathematical probabilities.

For example, take your hand history and look at all-in situations where you had AA against lower pocket pairs. If you have a large enough sample, you will see that the statistics tend to match the expected probabilities very closely.

If poker sites were actually favoring certain players or manipulating the results, it would probably have already been identified and exposed by these players, especially professionals who analyze millions of hands and use statistical tools and solvers.

Besides that, the major poker sites, especially the best-known ones, generate a significant portion of their revenue from casinos and sports betting. It doesn't make much sense for a large company to manipulate poker to favor a particular player.

In poker, the site mainly makes money through the rake collected from hands or tournaments. From the site's perspective, it generally doesn't matter who wins or loses. What matters is that players keep playing and generating rake.

That's why we often get the feeling that the site is favoring the player with more chips or that we are experiencing an absurd number of bad beats. But this can simply be a perception caused by variance and the way our brains tend to remember negative events more strongly.

Poker is a game of probabilities. Even when you make the correct decision, you can still lose the hand. And that doesn't necessarily mean there was any manipulation.

I think you should spend more time discussing gameplay and skills rather than getting so hung up on defending institutions. That guy over there says he started in 2018. I was already a customer of PokerStars and Full Tilt back in 2008; the latter was shut down due to fraud, technical errors, and the misappropriation of customer funds—and, of course, there were plenty of people defending it who didn't have a clue what was going on. So, there are a lot of people here talking without really knowing much. I think discussions about skills and the game itself are more worthwhile than this.

Do u even read those parts of the forum where they discuss gameplay and hands? Without him it would be basically dead.

Its like telling a security guard he should take more time standing in front of buildings.

Full Tilt and PokerStars were shut down in the US by the DOJ in 2011, because DOJ believed, online gambling was illegal. They were using a law from the 1930`s about interstates sportsbetting and claimed, this also applied to other forms of gambling. Until that point there had been some ambiguity about this, but PartyPoker had seen the writing on the wall and left the US market ahead of "Black Friday".

When the DOJ cracked down on sites, that had assets in the USA, Full Tilt experienced something very similar to a run on a bank, and it turned out, they could not pay people back. This was eventually solved by PokerStars making a deal with the DOJ to no longer allow people to play on their site from inside the USA and take over Full Tilt including its obligations to players in return for charges being dropped.

This is a short version of, what happened, and I am sure, someone with deep knowledge about this could add many more details. But it has very little to do with either fraud or technical errors, and there is absolutely no evidence, that the cards were not dealt randomly on Full Tilt, while the site ran. Or that this has ever been the case on any other established poker site like GG Poker, PokerStars etc.

Well, I didn't make any deposits this year—just withdraws—on sites like GGPoker, WPT, and so on. Maybe it's because I don't care so much about defending online platforms, but about finding better ways to play and improve my game. But this guy, fundiver199
she seems to have a real fetish for defending institutions instead of focusing on the game itself.

Doubt that is thaaaaat hard to understand.

Thank you so much for your concern, but I am actually doing pretty ok especially here in 2026 so far.

Obviously 4-betting pre with 85s is a questionable play, especially when someone is already all-in. But are you expecting people to play well in something, that is essentially a public freeroll? Like seriously? And on the flop he did not have "a suited 3-gapper" but an OESD, which is a totally reasonable hand to go with, when there is a ton of chips in the pot already and likely not that much left behind.

I can't even take anyone serious who plays the highest variance turbo lottery bingo MTT's and then complains about variance. It's like complaining about water being wet. In other news the sun is also bright.

Game selection matters.

Cheers!!!

You're playing the highest variance bingo lotteries there are available NO MATTER MATTER WHAT THE SITE IS. The only thing thing you're proving is game selection matters. Showing one random hand from a bingo lottery doesn't prove what you think it does. Show us AA vs 85 run a million times on GG poker. Show us what them results say?

Water is still wet.....the sun is still bright.

Cheers!!!

My point was the experience at GG is higher variance than other sites (even when considering "bingo" games) as there are more bad plays and a lot less folding at GG - I guess because there are more bad players at GG.. because there are more players in total at GG.

I'm not complaining BTW, the game is what it is, GG is what it is.

Yes you're playing a turbo high variance bingo lottery. You got the result that should be expected. The only games higher variance are all-in or fold types and zoom types.

Also play the very worst of the worst players and that will also add to your variance. It's why I start at $5 MTT's and longer then turbo blind level MTT's. Cut's variance by a lot but there's is still plenty of variance.

Cheers!!!

Have you tried to play $10 MTTs on GG Poker like the Daily Classic, Daily Turbo etc, and did you see someone 4-betting 85s in a similar situation in one of those games? If not then maybe its fair to say, that this type of play is typical not for the site but for the specific game, you choose to participate in?
