Just played 10NL rush for a short time. $10 buy-in. Made $22 in 8 minutes.

Now, its Miller time.

This is insane.

I'm not doing anything reckless. Just waiting for good hands. I made a set on pocket queens and got a king-high flush on another.

I've noticed some have taken to overbetting to try and take advantage of the trigger-happy folders. Generally they will overbet by 3-4x or so. When you have a good hand you can bust these guys.

You'll like Rush Poker until variance starts to catch up. It's exciting all right. But reason it's not poker is because there's rarely any post-flop play and people are mostly playing cards. Your opponent changes every second.

I buy-in for $10 in 10NL and get wiped out in 2 minutes because some emotional blind-defending idiot had to 5-bet shove with J9o on pre-flop against my pocket Kings and rivers two pairs. Would this have happened in standard ring games? NO. I believe not unless you're playing garbage poker, which is what my roommate played in Planet Hollywood. But until then, enjoy. Whether it's poker or not, it's still exciting and it takes online poker to a innovative new level.

Poker is about neither. It's about making money. I'm up $13 in about 30 minutes on a 5NL table. I never did this well in 4 months on regular tables. I plan to continue with Rush Poker.

WOW... this ^ is truly incredible. I'm really amazed!! Partly because up to this point (Wed. Jan 21) I've never seen any tables under 10NL...????

Prob won't be posting on the 'rush' poker threads after this... sorta same old, same old. I played for 1 hr. last nite and in first 5mins. I won 5 buyins. Just crazy stuff with alot of newbies. Just for fun I decided to do a few dumb things and was pretty funny results.... ie. Btn rs's 3.5x.. I shove 120bb's in BB w AA... and the guy snapcalls me with AQo.. yay me, lol. Another was SB raises me 3x...(on 65bb's).. I shove AQs in BB.. he snaps with A7o in SB... yay me!! I saved 5screenshots of utter redonkulous stuff.
Also finding alot of suckouts. And some players playing some crazy bad hands (prob players from higher limits just having some fun).
Personally I'm choosing to rathole once I'm up close to 200bb's.
Sure seems like an easy way to rack up the FTPs.
sidenote... I haven't played any 'rush' today so I'm counting this as 'Day1' for my clean & sober date >>> No Rush one hand at a time!!!

I kind of like it. There is some bad play so it could be very profitable.

Son of a mother! With all of this talk of "Rush" poker I'm starting to think that full deposit is going to be on FTP! I'll have to buy a case of energy drinks, start on a Friday night and see what happens!

I'm curious though..... will this have an impact of anybody's regular game?

Anybody play Omaha Hi Rush yet?

Gentlemen, thank you for the suggestions...it's greatly appreciated!

I only played 105 hands...I thought the world had fallen off its axis & was spinning into the depths of space (the meclizine was not working) --recurring vertigo is an extreme bummer :( (one of the reasons I have reduced live play & increased online play...if I'm gonna stumble around, it's going to be in the comfort of home :p).

Have changed 'Rush Poker Animations' from the default = 'slide' to 'fade.'

OMG, I already had Main Animations = 'Reduced' -- don't even want to know what the 'Normal' Rush experience is like .

Rush Poker

I suppose it will be fun for most. It is out of my league as far as bankroll, but maybe in a few months I may try it out. I watched it on youtube, and it seems kinda fun if you have the bankroll to support it. :tee:

Otherwise, it is just a learning situation for those who try it and figure out a reasonable strategy to make it worth the time:musicus:

'Fade' is oh so much better (for me anyway) than 'slide' -- :icon_thumTYVM BelgoSuisse & WVHillbilly!

So, tried another go @ Rush...doubled my $10 buy in @ $0.05/$0.10 within 85 hands & ran away :p (KOed 2 peeps with A.Koff -- Flop = 9.K.3, Turn = A, & River = 6 (10.Qoff pushed all in after the flop).

The FT folks need to have a real "micro" stakes buy in for these sucker games.

WTH? How is this even poker?

Actually the only way to win at these things is NOT TO PLAY!

Someone explain to me why people are calling this a sucker game, and asking how to make money at it.

Seriously. I am curious because I can't figure it out.

It's plain old poker as far as I can tell. Albeit a sort of 2 dimensional representation. Some basic strategy is clearly emerging, as you can see by just playing a few hands... but it's texas hold'em. The same game played in tournaments and standard rings.

Obviously the format introduces a serious twist that affects gameplay. But it is still just poker... in some ways a refined form. By that I mean refined as in the way cocaine is a refined form of the coca leaf. ;)

Here is how I am making money at it:

Full Tilt, $0.05/$0.10 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
Hand History Converter by Stoxpoker

BB: $33.89 (338.9 bb)
UTG: $4.89 (48.9 bb)
MP: $14.18 (141.8 bb)
CO: $11.61 (116.1 bb)
BTN: $18.90 (189 bb)
hERO (SB): $10.60 (106 bb)

Pre-Flop: hERO is SB with K
spade.gif
A

3 folds, BTN calls $0.10, hERO raises to $0.30, BB calls $0.20, BTN calls $0.20

Flop: ($0.90) 8
spade.gif
2

K
heart.gif
(3 players)
hERO bets $0.40, BB calls $0.40, BTN folds

Turn: ($1.70) 6

(2 players)
hERO bets $1.20, BB calls $1.20

River: ($4.10) 2
spade.gif
(2 players)
hERO bets $1.95, BB calls $1.95

Results: $8 pot ($0.53 rake)
hERO showed K

(two pairs, Kings and Twos) and won $7.47 ($3.62 net)
BB showed T

FWIW Here are the other two main ways I am keeping the chips in my stack:

--------------------
HAND #1
--------------------

Full Tilt, $0.05/$0.10 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
Hand History Converter by Stoxpoker

BB: $6.44 (64.4 bb)
UTG: $5.68 (56.8 bb)
MP: $19.99 (199.9 bb)
CO: $11.13 (111.3 bb)
hERO (BTN): $31.48 (314.8 bb)
SB: $5.95 (59.5 bb)

Pre-Flop: hERO is BTN with 3
heart.gif
6
heart.gif

3 folds, hERO raises to $0.30, 2 folds

Results: $0.25 pot
hERO mucked 3
heart.gif
6
heart.gif
(high card Six) and won $0.25 ($0.15 net)

And this one is kinda good too:

OK. Two things.

1. I am pretty sure Rush Poker is far less rigged in fade mode.

2. I am also fairly sure it has melted my brain somehow... see?:

System: A $1+$0.10 Satellite to The BLT will be starting in 2 minutes. At least 10 seats will be awarded!
cAPSLOCK7: Bacon Lettuce Tomato?
cAPSLOCK7: CHICKEN VS CHICKEN!
cAPSLOCK7: oh, monkey.

[x] lost a LOT of value

bet bigger on every street imo you could have nearly stacked this guy and instead you got $3, whats with the under half pot bet on the flop?? You need to listen to your own advice, "It's plain old poker" which means getting max value from the fish at every opportunity, something you completely failed at here. In my exp rush poker is full of stations like this guy, TPTK=Gold and you should be bet bet betting as much as you possibly can b/c they will still call you down.

... and in a game like Rush, our hero could also have faced that marvelous trip 2's sukout that micro players are very tuned into. Maybe it saved him from the norm of 'losing' his stack ??

Just saying............

Yeah well variance slapped me in the face, I got rivered sooo many times yesterday after everything holding up the day before. I was up 230$ one day, and down to .04c then next lol. At least I am getting alot of rakeback next Friday. Just wish I did not have to wait that long lol. I like rush, but I rushed into it and didn't drop down or out when I should have. I also tried PLOrush, which I def wasnt rolled for. Which def tilted me lol and lost way to much before leaving... err when will I learn. How many times will I go bust after ditching BRM before I learn. I am always fine until I step outside of those boundaries, its like a little kid who knows he shouldn't stick his finger in an electrical socket, but does just outta curiousity...lol. Thats like me and BRM; because I know I should follow it, but I don't. Hrmmm.

Thanks for the HA even though it came with a douchy checkbox.

I feel compelled to respond because I think it is relevant to this game.

But I disagree with you on all but one point: The flop bet was meant to be exactly half pot. I fiddled around with the slider as the timer was going down at what seems like 100kph in this game until it landed on the not quite enough 40 cents instead of 45. So I concede that one. Next time I'll just type it in.

But from there I am happy with how I played the hand.

We see this part differently. How can I be sure this player is a "fish"? I see the game as being filled with more than fish. I am pretty sure it is dominated with 2+2 regs even at 10nl where folks have come to play for fun along with LOTS of tourney players... many of whom are good. I have noticed as I go through my notes and research the folks I am up against that many of them don't even show up in THAT SITE WHICH SHALL GO UNNAMED. This guy turns out to be a (profitable) $22 SNG grinder.

I got value on every street with TPTK, which even when it is AK is just a pair. I wasn't as worried about running into a set or some lame two pair as I figured more of his range was lighting up to be pairs as the hand went on. I think when I make my bets much bigger than ~1/2 - 2/3 he is folding everything but hands that beat me.

I have this mantra which I suppose could be a leak. "Don't go broke with just a pair". A friend on this forum said it to me long ago when he saw me all but stack off with AK TPTK against 2 pr.

Still I am a "recreational player" myself, so I was the fish in this hand.

Speaking of "completely failed" I am not sure I have ever greeted you before on this forum. Nice to meet you.

[x] check box was douchy

Seriously though, everyone knows how these games are playing atm, tight pf and v.stationey post-flop, people are calling down with so much worse than TP that you really have to completely valuetown with TPTK or risk losing loads of value, "don't go broke with just a pair" is obv a good mantra but people are going broke with MUCH worse than TPTK so you have to be prepared to stack with TPTK in order to get max value from your premium hand that you've just spent the last 3 mins quick folding to get, when the games settle down and people start really nitting it up, which they will, then yeah going broke with TP is gonna be as bad an idea as it's ever been, but while the fish are flocking to it TPTK=Gold, specially against someone who's shown no aggression whatsoever on a flush drawn board.

My last post was a bit douchy and i apologise but i really think you missed about 1/2 a BI of value here tbh

I'm nearly convinced that since this is such an odd variant of how we prefer to play poker, that many of the pseudo graces go out the window.

So Rat Holing, IMO, is perfectly valid, and a key to success in this version of the game. Since you will not play a lot of hands against any particular player, it is unlikely that they will remember you rat holed anyway.

If you win a big hand, get out, then get right back in. Pocket your winnings. There seems to be no min time to wait before getting back in the same game.

For even more excitement, double click the enter button, and multi-table this version.......
