Pelé scored over 1200 goals, 3 times World Champion, first with only 17 years old and many other titles. Only person who received the award Sportsman of the Century.
Maradona was good but that´s it.. Won on 1986 but lets not forget the hand goal vs England. And that´s it. Italian title with Napoli, never won the Champions, Libertadores...
Maradona is not even close to Pelé.

Skill wise - all round was pele but maradona was without doubt the best dribbler, man beater with a ball glued to his feet, you have to also look at the quality of the teams they played in - international honours wise - Peles Brazil teams were formidable - Argentinas were inconsistent.
Give me Maradona as an attacking Midfielder and Pele as a Striker alongside a young fit ronaldo with another Ronaldo on the wing and i give you probably the 4 best attackers in World football of any generation - now thats a third of a dream team!!

I have not been able to seen either of them playing, because I'm too young, but if we watch statistics, then Pele is a better player, but if you want someone who can give you a spark in team, who can dribble a lot of player, and set up a goal, then it's Maradona.
I can only judge player playing in this era, and I think that same debate can be made over Ronaldo and Messi. It's just opinions at the end of the day.

Very tough desicion, but I would go for Pele.
Both players were superb, among the best in the world, but Pele was a phenomenon that will never appear again in world football. His ability to hold the ball, dribble, produce game, scoring goals is a package that no other player had, has or will have in the future.
And after Pele, I wouldn't vote for Maradona. I would choose Lionel Messi.

I am passionate about soccer ... I could see playing maradora in the 1986 World Cup ... he was an extraordinary player that dazzled everyone ... and I also saw him playing for the napoli in italy where I frame history ... and pele did the same during his football career ... so for my taste I stay with maradona ..!

Pelé is the greatest, what are you saying make no sense. Him with Santos won Libertadores 2 times and the World Title as well. On the 60´s when Euro teams were far better the Southamericans.

I think Maradona got an advantage that he played mainly in the 80's and there are much more good quality videos about him. I saw what he could do with the ball and I think he was the best of all time so far. Plus it was more difficult to score goal in the 80's than in the 50-60's, the defenses became better.
