I've been playing for many years and of course silver and platinum level tournaments are not for beginners.

Yes, because they are the ones who create your initial bankroll! I think that if you're winning a lot of freerolls when you start playing paid games, you'll be almost ready, and you'll keep improving.

Freerolls can be great when you wanna play but can't/don't want to be too invested. For entertainment purposes basically.

Many players underestimate freerolls.
But with big fields and real prizes, they can be a great way to build experience and even a bankroll.
Do you still play freerolls regularly?
I play freerolls regulary, and I think it depends a lot on the type of freeroll you're going to play to say it is not for beginners. Freerolls with large fields and high stakes are really difficult for a beginner, since in these freerolls the objective is to accumulate chips and make it to the ITM alive, so strategies often don't have room to be applied and explored. On the other hand, closed freerolls with few players can be good for a beginner.
