So far, I've only played online on sites like America's Card Room. I'll play the games where the buy-in is around $2 or less.

These matches will run for 7 to 8 hours.

Is this normal?

I've played free rolls that lasted around 3–4 hours.

These 7 hour games are quite a grind.

3-4 hours is about average for freerolls, 7-8 hours for non freeroll tournaments is not too long, most last a fair bit longer than 7-8 hours, 12 to 14 hours for larger tournys. Major tournys have 2nd and 3rd days.

It all depends on how fast the blinds are raised.

I think this is a completely normal tournament length. Depending on where you get to, if the whole tournament lasts 7 hours, then this is not really that much, I know freerolls that can last 7 hours, and even more so with paid entries.

I don't like ACR just because tournaments are too long; while other sites have an average late registration of 2 hours, ACR has 8 hours, and two more hours before prizes. And this is at micro limits, tournaments are too long

Pretty sure OP said tournaments 2.- or less therefore for these 7+ hours is clearly way too long
Also 3-4 hours is more like standard time for 1-2.- MTTs rather than freerolls ...

It depends on how fast the blinds are raised and the number of players registered . For freerolls it usually takes 3 to 4 hours and for buy-in tournaments it takes between 6 to 9 hours.

I agree. 7 hours is quite a long time, and maintaining concentration and patience for such a long time is difficult. I usually play on PokerStars or 888 and on average one tournament lasts 3-4 hours.

Is depends of the velocity you choose, in PS there have slow, turbo and híper turbo.
There vary from 1 hour to more.

I checked some completed games in order to calculate what games to play when I'm starting a session.
At least in PS, normal speed games lasts 7-8 hours, turbo games lasts 4-6 hours, depending on the field, and hyper-turbo 2 hours avg.

Tournament poker is probably the most popular format. Most participants are eliminated without receiving any winnings. In the case of multi-table tournaments, on average, from 10 to 30 percent of all players make money. We play for 5 hours.

If it’s a regular tournament (not turbo or hyper turbo) and you expect to reach the final table, then you need a lot of concentration, but also expect 7-8 hours

3 days ago I took part in a $1.10 Knot aut. 4 hours of play to finish eleventh and win a total of $6. In this case, it was not worth it.

Although I don't know exactly, I would say 6 to 8 hours. Later larger tournaments implement a break until day 2. The difference in hours played with a freeroll is largely due to late registration, I recommend that you analyze that so as not to be surprised.

I agree with you, 7-8 hours is really exhausting. I usually play in tournaments that last 3-4 hours and this suits me fine. It's hard to play 7-8 hours and even harder to find that much free time.

Most of the tourneys I play go for around 3 to 5 hours, that's if I'm hanging in there.

Its just too long.

Shame sites like 888 and PS don't put the expected tourney length before you start. Unibet at least gives a guide in its tourney schedule.

If I reach a final table after 6 hours or so I am tired and had enough of playing, which is not really where you want to be for the most critical phase of the tournament.
