What "trash" hand do you seem to win a lot of pots with?

In poker, a "trash" hand that you surprisingly win a lot of pots with is often something like 7-2 offsuit or any small suited connectors (like 5-4 suited, 6-5 suited). These hands are weak by standard rankings, but you can win a lot if you play them aggressively, steal blinds, or hit unexpected straights or flushes.

Basically, it's not the hand itself that makes you win-it's position, aggression, and reading your opponents.

Hi @LiviuRo123

Yes, that is the explanation of what a "trash hand" may be.

Do you have any particular trash hands you play?

In my mind im really lucky with 10-7os or 7-4s, i would say i give it a try in freerolls against passive villains or against one villain if my stack is small and i have to risk my tournament life in a few hands.
Sometimes i like to raise @position holding the doyle brunson hand ;-).

7-4
It started as a joke in the 2010s because my brother's birthday was in 1974 and he played 74 in live cash games all the time and won a lot, somehow I started playing the hand both live and online and surprisingly had good results with it often because opponents rarely expect you to have such junk.

I usually fold most trash hands, but there’s one that just seems to find a way to win for me — 7♠2♠.
It’s supposed to be the worst hand in poker, but for some reason, whenever I hit a random straight or two pair with it, it always seems to surprise my opponents.

That said, I don’t go out of my way to play it — most of the time it’s just a free play in the big blind. Still, it’s funny how these “garbage hands” can sometimes turn into monster pots if the board runs just right.

Lately I've noticed that playing 10.7 different suits, I can win with a five, a set, even a small royal.

I win 6-5 and J6 times from the same Naype, generally when I'm the hand, I've beaten several times to the top, always varying the hand.

When I'm in late positions, and there are a lot of fish doing limp, I like to see the flop with hands like 67 78 89 etc, to see if I can catch a big fish.

I always play 95. Many years ago in PKR I won 600$ with 59 and from that moment it`s one of my favorite hands.

For me, it’s definitely 86 suited. I don’t know why, but every time I decide to play it, I seem to either hit some sneaky straight or flush, or manage to bluff people off big pots because no one ever puts me on that hand. It’s not a hand I would recommend playing often, but somehow it’s turned into my “lucky trash hand.” Funny thing is, I’ve won more memorable pots with 86 suited than with some premium pairs.

I don't have a specific hand, even because this issue involves more superstition. I think understanding that variance is part of the game and not a sign of unfairness is the best approach. Studying the probabilities is a way to gain more confidence and a more relaxed attitude.

76 suited is a popular low value that people like to 3 and 4 bet with, it might look pretty but at end of day only 7 high.

Last week the trash hand that got me a few times was 84 twice I had overpair and lost all my chipies to it, yikes.

There are only 2 situations I decide to play trash hands sometimes: When I am closing the biding at BB and bet is not big - 2-3 BB and when I am at SB and evertone folds to me, when I see the chance player sitting at BB can fold - with some reading or their stats. I prefer if it is not the complete trash, but cards have a little potential, like connectors or at least gappers 54o, 63o, or be suited cards. I have no favorite trash to play.

Currently, based on all poker tournaments of the past few months, no special leaf has burned itself into my memory due to above -average frequency.

But that, I call it "phenomenon", I know! Marginal hands that apparently "hit every time", but which i know more from the early days of poker.

I particularly remember the hand :3s4::6h4: .

We've all seen the advice to just throw away your rag hands such as :7s4::2h4: or :10c4::3d4: and save your chips for a better hand. However, the worst bad beats in tournaments seem to come from players who entered pots with similar "worthless" hands, and wound up cracking your AA and taking all of your chips.

Is there a lucky trash hand that you like to play because it seems to win way more often than it should?
Oh man, this is like the classic pain of every tournament player! Nothing tilts me more than having my pocket aces cracked by some guy with 7-2 who randomly decided to call my raise and flopped two pair. But here's the thing - we remember these brutal bad beats precisely because they're dramatic and painful, while all those hundreds of times that same player just quietly folded his trash preflop, we don't even notice. Sure, sometimes junk hands make sense - when you're short-stacked late in a tournament, getting great pot odds in the big blind, or stealing from late position - but the truth is that guy who cracked your aces with seven-deuce probably lost way more chips with that same hand in spots you never saw. I've been on both sides of this - had my aces destroyed by complete garbage and also won some pots with terrible hands when the flop hit me perfectly, but when I track results over the long term, disciplined play with good starting hands absolutely crushes chaotic play with rags every single time. These bad beats just hurt so much because we focus on the result instead of the process - that dude made a bad decision that happened to work out once, but in a hundred similar situations he's bleeding chips left and right.
