bluffing is an integral part of the game. Otherwise you rely only on luck to succeed.

You cannot play poker successfully and NOT bluff...it's a big part of the game...position is key when bluffing...that and board texture...but the simple answer is YES I bluff...

The more advanced the skill level of the players at your table, the more you should consider picking spots to bluff. When playing with inexperienced players in low and micro stakes, your bluffing is far more likely to backfire on you. Many of the micro players and those who have not been playing very long will probably not even understand what you are trying to represent, and will call you down with top pair or two pair on a board full of pairs and flush/straight cards. Which is not to say that experienced players are easier to bluff. Not at all. In fact, they are more likely to know when you are bluffing or when you have it because they are capable of watching you and noticing your patterns of play, like bluffing too much.

I am also not saying that micro and low stakes players can never be bluffed. There are plenty of skilled players in the micro and low stakes games, and you can certainly find great spots to put them to the test and rep that flush when the river gives you the right card.

You have to bluff.

The question is how much and when.

As usual with poker-related questions, the answer is "depends."

Against fishy players you might as well just value bet the hell out of them. Only bluff when you think there's fold equity.

Yes, I bluff in online poker. How much depends on my opponents and their willingness to call or fold.

If I think a player is too tight I will bluff them more to take pots I should have lost. if they call too much I will bluff much less. I will still bluff them some on small pots though. If the bluff works, I win a pot, if they catch my bluff, then it just encourages them to do so again on a bigger pot later.

The only time I don't bluff is if you have a lot of players entering the pot every hand and like to see it to a showdown.

the bluff is one of the tools of poker, I do not recommend trying to live by bluff I believe that one should use the bluff in case lost in desperate moves, in the last case

I think i do it too much online. I play it like live and its not good. Im trying to reduce my bluffing. And for the advice, you have my thread which is mainly focused on live poker, but can be implemented in online strategy for good tournaments.

I think it's better to bluff less online vs real life, players seem to be more aggressive and willing to call with less online. A leak in my online game is that I bluff too much and get called. Another leak is trying to bluff twice in a row and the villains catching on. Once in a while is best. Make sure to spread them around and it is best to use your position.

In most cases, the flop is not friendly to our starting cards. If you do not bluff at all, you do not play profitably. When bluffing it is important to represent something.

When I play poker I try to get a feel for the table. Once I believe that I have a decent feel for it is the point in time in which I pick and choose my spots to bluff. Sometimes the size of my stack dictates to me when I need to bluff, but that also go back to picking and choosing my spots for bluffing as well. Getting the feel for the table also dictates to me the minimal amount of chips I need to bet, to get the results that I expect to get. The system, naturally of course is not 100% perfect, but it generally helps me keep my bluff loses to a minimum when I guess wrong.

Yes, here you need the ability so that your opponent does not read your bluff reception

I don't do it very often but I'll do every time I think I can get away with it. Mostly when your playing against the blinds when you have already raised preflop and the flop comes out with a big card like king. You don't have but they checked to you so the chances are that they don't have it either. A small bluff is in order. Not too much because they could be setting a trap and you need to be able to get away from it if they come over the top.

I do bluff in online poker however I typically do it when I believe I can get away with it. I cannot say how often I bluff since I have not checked my recent hand histories. The best time to bluff is if you truly believe you can get away with it. This relates to two concepts that are vital to poker: fold equity and fear equity.

We often use the bluff and we are successful, but there are those that make us feel sorry. To make a good bluff you have to have lots of poker experience.

I rarely bluff in poker. And if it is bluffing, it is only with CO and SB, provided that no one bet to CO.

I'm sensing that bluffing is a leak of mine online. Live i seem to do well overall.
Do any of you have any tips or suggestions about this?
Links to other threads and or strategy articles about bluffing would be helpful!

I see guys like doug polk talk about bluffs and realize I know VERY little about picking which hands to bluff with. I just go by feel, and online it's harder for me.

Thanks!

You can not just bluff, for this there must be conditions such as a weak opponent who is afraid to fly out of the tournament or your hand has a chance to become a monster
