Is Online Poker Rigged?

I do feel that it might not be rigged but fixed to allow certain players win more frequently such as higher deposit players. Like last week on pokerstars I entered the 109$ buy-in 3 million GTD and the 55$ buyin 1 million tournaments and 5 mins into the game I was straight set up to lose. Like its unbelievable really how those hands went down.

Poker online is more harder this days bcs many players study the game with huds ,solvers, its all about what "Robot dealer thinks"

Poker is percentages. Sometimes you see weird results. But you see that in live play itself. Other than years ago...when a site had a bad apple....have not seen anything too weird

Unlikely any major site is rigged by the site itself. No credible proof has ever bubbled up, and those sites have zero incentive to do so. (If there is rigging, I would've thought people on the inside would have the incentive to spill the beans. e.g., a disgruntled IT person who did the rigging coding.... These types of things are hard to keep secret.). The downside of getting caught are obvious. What's the upside for those sites?

According, unless there's credible proof, I just won't believe the rantings of random internet crackpots.


Bots, collusion, etc. If that's in your definition of 'rigging', then, yes, there is probably some rigging going on, unfortunately.

Now, while I don't necessarily believe its rigged, I've only been playing on pokerstars for a short while and I've seen more quads and Royals in the last 2 months than I've seen in the last 15 years.

I don't feel it's rigged , but the programs and algorithms used do seem tilted for entertainment purposes, therefore leading to more river suck outs. It happens in real life and you just have to be prepared, lol.

Flawed not rigged

I’m having a really hard time believing there isn’t flaws the programming/design that are exploited. I was playing a £5 bounty 6 max on iPoker and came up against a player that proceeded to go all in straight away every time then showed his cards showing pointless cards. After 4-5 times of him doing this I landed pocket Aces and called him, he by then had gained maybe 400/500 chip. He turned over 5-8 hearts/clubs. The flop showed 7 k a. The turn and river 6-9. My mistake was getting sucked into his games when really should have let him get bored, but again I feel the game wants ppl eliminated especially when you land premium hole cards and your short stacked. Maybe in these kind of games it’s best to slow play as much as possible till you have better info on the table

everyone knows a poker board should pair 7 or 8 times out of 10, and it's normal to see back to back 10- ace straights, then 2 or three hands later see 2 or 3 more 10 -A straights

The thing I see the most is players having a bad day or even a bad week - or they are making a lot of wrong decisions - and they instantly think the game is cheating them.

I'm sorry but I play live and it never equates to the online results. I don't care what anyone says, those online poker sites are using algorithms to give an impression of randomness. There's nothing random at all about it, its an algorithm online and I don't trust it. That's tantamount to heresy what I just said among the poker community but I do not trust online poker at all. Play live only, bad beats for sure but nothing like online.

Cash Rigged, Tournaments Probably Not

Cash games on line are rigged. A friend of mine is a programmer and built an on line poker site so that we could play our normal house game on line during the COVID-19 crisis. The frequency of outrageous bad beats is so much less than with regular on line poker. My friend's little site (just one cash table) actually feels like a live game.

Cash poker on line has too many bots raking in profits for the poker companies. Some poker companies boast that all players are anonymous and this is supposed to protect you against sharks. All it does is provide cover for the poker company bot players. One site even boasts you can change your username 3 times a day! Total cover for their own bot players.


Tournaments on line might be rigged to a small degree but I'd say they're largely honest.

Biggest problem is on double or nothing tourneys or cash play is cloaked Bots that are undetected by the poker sites. You've got some players playing 100 low stakes double or nothing tournaments a day, day in and day out, 365 days a year, 10 tables at a time, for about 10 cents per tourney profit. Thousands of hours a year for 1/9th minimum wage per hour. Those sorts of numbers are only possible or feasible with bots. Go to sharkscope, look up "emperor" and "Hyper1on" to name but 2 of these bot users.

I agree with you 100% ats. What would it matter to you who wins or loses as long as you are consistently making tons of money every day ? Why risk it ? People are very inclined to believe in so many conspiracy theories and organized scams (though they do exist) wherever there's money involved. They say the same thing about Lottery, Sports, all casino games and even elections...

Players who win more frequently.... typically aren't depositing... and definitely not making higher deposits. Umm... because they are winning
