I'm fine if it's permanent, I don't see why I need to play more than 4 tables, it's the perfect number imo

fwiw, the "perfect amount for learning" is going to be different for different people (at least potentially).

6 should be the perfect amount to get enough action without being overwhelmed and having time to think about spots

Deleted the Pokerstars app from my phone, it's -EV playing without and HUD and not being able to table select.

Only need 250VPP for the next $50 Stellar, should be easy to get it before end of the year.

Going to do challenge thread soon, options are "$60-->$200 on 888 playing 6nl" or "200 $1.50 hyper HUSNGs, can I beat them?", I think the former will be more interesting as HH's from HUSNGs are pretty tedious I think.
4k+ VPPs for next $50 Stellar for me, so not gona happen.

GL with the challenge.

I´m trying a challenge this month for 100k hands & 100 bi´s on 2nl zoom, i don´t think can´t make it but gona try.

MM you shouldn't be allowed to post any struggling you have, reading it makes me wish to hang myself when i think of how many levels higher is your game compared to mine but you are still have hard times, man there is a long and painful road ahead of me...

Now seriously, it is good way of looking at bad beats the way you described, i haven't read mental game of poker but i have poker mindset audio book which really help understanding and getting needed patience for the poker marathon

Raise the turn for value to ~$2.20 imo, think you can get value from Kx and draws. As played calling the I'm calling the river too

So after going from nothing I managed to grow my roll enough that I decided to play 10NL with only 15 buy ins but pretty quickly got it up to 21 which is enough for shot taking. Then the other night I won a $2 PLO tournament for a bit over $60 and also took down a $3 tournament for $210 So I'm actually rolled to take a shot at 20nl but I figure I'll stick with 10nl for a while since I was only playing 2NL not that long ago.

Also after playing now for a bit under a year (although only a few months more "seriously") I've finally made my first withdrawal which finally makes me feel like an actual poker player, took out $150 which I'll put on stars.

I'm also thinking its about time I look into getting holdem manager or poker tracker, but I don't have my own laptop, I use a borrowed one (which admittedly I have access to most of the time) I don't think there is any point getting it though until I have my own laptop so I was wondering how it works. Do you download it and install it from the web? Or can you get a disk version so that I could trial it on the current laptop then transfer it to a new one once I've got my own laptop? I'd also e able to transfer the data like hand histories and stuff to the new laptop right?

You just buy it online and download it.

You get a registration/activation code that you can use on up to two machines at a time.

You are able to email support and have them unregister old machines or machines that you no longer use so that you can use it elsewhere.

hope that helps.

also congrats on the recent success

Thanks, that helps

I guess there's no harm in taking the trials and by then I'll probably have made enough to pay off whichever one I chose

So great news. After FINALLY taking the plunge and withdrawing 40% of my roll, I've lost 1/3 of what was left and am looking at having to move down (after already moving down from withdrawing).

Oh yeah. And it's only been 2 days back to the grind.

Anyone else having a shitty time of it? Or just me?

QTo, I kind of hate your flat pre, especially since he has half-decent stats. A 3b or fold is almost always going to be better imo. As played pre, postflop seems ok since we have a read he's aggro.

99, fold flop, fold turn, fold river. Yeah he looks fishy, and yeah he's unknown, but you have 3 hands on the guy, so unless you got some sick read in those 3 hands that this was okay, this is pretty spewy in the long run imo. Yes he has the button so flop COULD be air, but it's still into 3 opponents, so more likely to be strong as people tend to play more face up/straightforward in MW pots. Especially with his sizing on the turn. And fwiw, I size approximately the same way he does there if I have like KQ and want thin val OTR.

I was gonna say I like the QTo hand but I didn't realize a reggy guy opened. Other than pre, I like it.

As for second hand, I tend to agree although I find myself calling in these spots too much myself. As for sizing, I think his sizing is perfectly fine and consistent with a KQ/AQ type hand. I do this myself -- bet the same on river as the turn -- constantly in spots where they have few value hands to call with.

Yeah, what happen is this. They notice that you've withdrawn, so they hit the switch (you know the one), and leave it running for a few days. That'll teach us for withdrawing!

I withdrew earlier today. But I'm smart, I'm not going to play again until the doom switch over my account expires. Actually I might just play some 2c sit n gos to trick the software into using up my post withdrawal run bad

But there must be some way to beat it. Would some weird strategy like playing well work?

No, I already tried that. It's better to be lucky than good.

Also, never withdraw, even if your son /really/ wants a new gaming PC. Just say, "**** you, you want me to runbad or something?! Get a paper round."

Solid advice. Luckily I can still get away with spending about £10 on my son for Christmas, I got him some play-doh and a bubble wand

Was kind of hoping for some "chin up, you'll bounce right back," but yeah, doom switch, yep. Sigh.

In all seriousness, it's really interesting to me how these tongue-in-cheek poker superstitions are about. It's literally exactly what I thought of after I closed down my session last night, and while I know 100% (okay, 99.9999%) that it's not a thing, I wonder if the fact that it popped into my head is destructive in and of itself. In the same camp as thinking it's rigged. Obv we're joking, but we still feel the need to say it?? Idk. Always struck me as something that was negative even as a joke, because it makes the proper mentality (focusing on improving, not being results oriented) more difficult to achieve.

In any case, in b4 busto and whatnot I guess.
