We plan on going to Texas next summer to visit, meanwhile we will be meeting them in Vegas in December.
Heck no lol.
I am not sure if you just called me a sucker or not

This is how I look at it. I do enjoy playing and I love the thrill of winning. Gambling kind of runs in my family. I learned responsible gambling very early on. The first time I went to a casino I took the amount of money I was willing to spend - and then wrote a check for more money when I ran out. I NEVER did that again because I felt the loss of that money more than I should have.
I now take what I am willing to lose and I have very low expectations of returning home with any of it. I consider it entertainment expense and it falls within my budget to be able to do it.
I don't get why people spend money on a lot of things - drinking alcohol, collecting trading cards (very expensive habit!), super expensive meals in restaurants, attending sporting events/concerts that cost hundreds of dollars per person, etc. I could go on forever.
But they enjoy it enough to do it and their discretionary income is theirs to spend in a way that is fun to them. I do the same thing in casinos.
