My story is a little bit weird. I used to play cash game when I was a student and was making good profit. I miss that time because I would have had time to do LONG tournament.

My friend, whom I met at university, teached me tournament play and since then, I like way more tournament than cash game... But I have no time with family and job now so I'm sticking with cash game (Zoom mostly) wishing I'd find time on a regular basis to do tourneys.

I play both; I used to focus on cash but I'm thinking about switching to more tournaments.

Like most have said, lower risks of losing money fast and there is something really rewarding about taking down a juicy tournament.

In poker, I like the tournament component of the game, I do not like the direct game for money, against my conscience.
I choose tournaments

I prefer to play tournaments, I do not like playing cash games, I won money freerolls then start playing, and there is no cash free games to play cash, you have to deposit.
In addition , the strategy is different, between cash and tournaments, there are some players who are better in cash and other tournaments, I think I'm better playing tournaments, and for that reason this game mode.

Tourneys, imo, are definitely a better format for the frugal player because the risk to potential win ratio is better and the blinds increase which allows players to play different stack sizes. Cash games have an unmatched factor of convenience. I think I prefer playing NLH trnys but prefer PLO ring games. Although PLO and PLO8 trnys have begun to appeal to me lately, as well.

Somehow I have changed my mind about cash and tourney games. Now, I prefer tourneys more than long cash sessions that I used to play before. By now, I play tourneys and freerolls only and play cash really rarely. I have not being playing cash games for about a month or so, I play cheap tourneys and keep grinding :). I still hate SNG's and play them only when I get a free ticket by a promo.

Tournaments, because it is great feeling to be able to overplay thousands of players and win 1st place.

I have a question that has been eating up my insides . I 've been playing a bit at Ignition Casino and some of the hands that I have lost on are kinda of unbelievable to the point that it upsets my stomach bad. My question is " Do online casinos have the technology of trading cards while playing; can they cheat you at will if they choose too?

I diceded to play tournaments rather than cash because I feel like a dummy sitting there waiting to be plugged like a chicken: Especially when t hit a good hand and you get pushed till all in and I lose.

I didn't get what you exactly mean. If you want to ask me if online poker is rigged then I don't know, really. No one has any proof about this. I always have suspitions that online poker is fair. Sometimes, especially when having a downstreak, it seems that a poker site is against you, like if they turn the "Don't let this player win anything" button on. Personally, I think they have some buttons like this. All of your streaks are not just variance, any poker site, any time, can decide whether you have an upstreak or a downstreak. If you, for example, have not given them rake for a long time, you play only freerolls and withdraw money time after time after time, they could just give you a downsteak for a while. And if you generate rake every day at a poker room, and you give them some profit too by doing this, then you are a "good" player for them, you deserve an upstreak for a week. Maybe it's just my little paranoia. No one has an answer whether online poker is rigged or not. There're tons of threads about this subject, people are always arguing (and seems these holy wars will never stop).
But anyway, as long as I play poker profitable, and I win more than I lose, I gonna play. I don't play offline (there's no live poker game in my town) so I can't compare online and live poker. I have never played offline for real money.

I am plying both, but I prefer tournaments, because you focus on the game to get higher place and make some strategy and after all you see the results

I think that one benefits for other. Cashgame (especially zoom) can help you to build huge experience at table, see many spots, how people react etc. and you can transfer this experience to the mtt . (why mtt ? you have a decent chance to make huge ROI in just few hours, if you lose, well you can always grind it on cash game if you're good enough, not like me constantly losing KK vs QQ cause of riverstars and it's Q all the time.)

For cash games you must learn to manage your bankroll properly first. Once you have done this and you have confidence you can increase your bankroll easily.

For tournaments you need to be patient because they are usually way too long unless you play sit & goes.

I prefer to play cash games personally in live play. Online its tournaments. The buyins can vary for me as I am not particular to any one buyin amount.

I think I play better in tournaments so I prefer those. There's something about taking down a big tourney, outlasting hundreds of other players that is very satisfying.

I feel better playing tournaments. When I play cash I tend to overthink each move I make in terms of the money I am losing. In tournaments the money is already spent so I try to do my best to win it back and to make a profit. I also studied a lot more of tournament strategy than cash strategy.

I usually play $ 20/40 tables as well and this is my most expensive table so far. I plan to rise to the next level by mid 2019 if everything runs as expected.

Good question.

Greets!

It depends on where you play online. Live games always the best to me. Tournaments, online, can be very long and tedious but result is more satisfying when you make ITM and possible place. Cash games -especially lower end- can run into bots and collusion on some sites.

I prefer to play cash game more than tournaments, Variance play a very important role on tournaments but on cash game we can overcome a bad beat with a winning strategy in the long run.

I can not bet a lot of money because I lose all my money playing at 0.5 / 0.10.
