I like cash games. The main advantage in cash games is the ability to finish the game at any time.

You described my exact position as well!
I never understood the way tournaments worked when I first started, that all you pay is a buy-in. I actually thought each tournament was all people buying in at $1,000 and higher to be able to play tournaments! If only I had learned sooner! Because I know I've always had a keen eye and the luck when I need it, saw texas hold em tournament when I was in vegas last and didn't realize It was less than $30 to play and actually get some solid winnings if you play good! Of course most the tourneys were more than that but they had one small one I imagine.

If this isnt hijacking too much I was just curious if Anybody on here play a tourney at a casino , like new york new york(or oharra's,flamingo etc.), and if so how much was their winnings? Just curious what could've been for me.
Personally I love these online tourneys bc of freerolls and I've never tried cash games, but I just earned another $33 cents toward my cash roll basically just losing the first hand I called after late reg being so late the blinds were one hand, and I got bad cards! so cash games some day soon.

Probably 95% cash games. Tournaments have too much variance involved in winning them and I find short-stack play to be terrible.

I love the feeling of running deep in a big tourney. I've mostly just been playing freerolls, but recently won my first $1 buy-in tourney with a large field of players, it was awesome!

Cash games are nice when I don't feeling like committing a huge chunk of time.

cash or tournaments

I think I play better in tournaments so I prefer those. There's something about taking down a big tourney, outlasting hundreds of other players that is very satisfying.

[COLOR=rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87)]in low level tournaments there are more fish but there is a lot of variance and in my experience it is very difficult to achieve prizes given the number of players who register

if you play for cash, you can quickly double, but the risk is great. tournaments are longer but the risk is minimal

Always tournaments, their prizes are attractive, while in the cash you can lose everything in one session.
the most expensive tournament I've played $ 5.50 since my bank is not big

Live I prefer cash and online I prefer tournaments. Tournaments live are long and drawn out whereas online you can multi table in comfort. Cash games live, 20/40 max. can be enjoyable and you can pull down a few G's. The higher stakes require a larger bankroll which I don't have.

If I could choose, I would always play a cash game. You can always break, do not change the stake, you can take a short break ...

I use to play mainly tournaments, but now I do not have the time to play really long tournaments and I don't like the push/fold nature of turbo tournaments.

So I mainly play cash now. I like that I have the option to leave early if the table is really tough or I am not feeling good enough to play. A lot of live tournaments have really crappy payout structure (rake traps) too so I avoid those like the plague.

I still play $1/2 live (not rolled for higher and casino I play at doesn't even have 2/5). It plays like 5/10 at times though. Few players constantly straddling for $10-100 (Yes I've seen couple $100 straddles) I would raise preflop for a $100 because the blinds & straddles get so big.

Highest I've played online was $10/20 NL 6 max (2k buyin). That was for one full orbit though :p Played a decent amount of mid stakes though $1/2 $2/4 $3/6.

Online cash games in the low/mid stakes plays a lot more wilder/LAG. I see a lot more light 3 bets and 4 bets. Ranges aren't as tight as in $.01/.02. Post flop play is pretty solid though. Biggest thing though with online cash stakes outside of microstakes are there are a lot of really good regulars up there playing for years.
