just started a session and 3rd hand in KK<AA. At least it was against a 50bb stack.

Nevermind this, ended the session up 3 BI's after about 750 hands. Pokahs is fun sometimes!

That's crazy man. Not sure if you already do this, but to reduce variance I wouldn't play too deep. When I move up aggressively, I generally don't play deeper than 150BB and will leave the table if both I and someone else is this deep. Not sure how unethical it is but it dampens the swings.

idk, 95% of players play double-or-nothings really suboptimally. even most of the winning regs do stuff that is just bad. basically if it comes to calling for your whole stack, you have to be comparing your equity to the perceived chance that someone else will go out before you, while also realizing that doubling up still isn't a guarantee to cash

when there's a tiny tiny short stack on the bubble, it's obvious. when there are a bunch of stacks similar to yours, it's not as obvious. even without an obviously short stack on the bubble, there are tons of situations where QQ and KK are super easy folds to shoves because your equity will be 70% at best and with 3 other stacks = to you, your chances of someone going out before you is > 70%, especially when you consider that most people won't play correctly. but almost nobody makes the correct folds in these spots, except for me ldo

knowing when to push yourself in these situations is more complicated because you have to have an idea how "good" your opponents are at the structure in order to estimate their calling ranges

i ain't writin no guide for that shiz though

yea but i dont really mind the swings because i'm pretty rolled for my limit now (30 buy ins approx) and there are a lot of hugely +EV spots that i find when i'm playing really deep. my game is prone to high variance but i find that i like my full ring game so it doesn't really bother me too much. like a -10 buy in day is somewhat standard for me at least once every two weeks if i'm playing a dece amount, it's just that some things aren't really going my way at the moment (standard spots, etc). the way i look at it i can expect a lot of sklansky bux from playing a session because my expectation against my opponents is so high, so i dont really give a care one way or the other about the results unless i start tilting or playing bad (which doesnt really happen much nowadays that i'm playing lower than i used to). although those really good winning days are always nice sometimes :p

Right, if you're properly rolled then playing deep is awesome.

I know but that's what I like.
The buble play, the knowing when to shove, knowing when to lay it down. Stealing at the right times. It's just that at the stakes the shrog would be playing play isn't all that great :).

Yeh I know. I always play flopped sets bad.

Finished my 100th DON just now. Thanks to the last 30 or so my winrate plummeted from 60-58% to 51% as I'm 51/100.

blah.

From 220 and on are the DONs. I made $40 over 100 tournys woot !
