SP, that hand is pretty standard. Max raises button with the very upper end of his range. Rex calls, which he's certainly capable of doing with a huge hand to trap, but all in all it doesn't look very strong. Tobias sees it as a good squeeze spot, so he shoves 16 BBs. Max realizes he has a stronger hand than he can be given credit for and there's a lot in the pot, so he gets it in

really really standard tbh

I don't blame the raise with K/Q, Rex's call, or the BB's shove if he felt he was being bet light. But calling a shove with KQ?

I guess I'm too tight.

It's more "calling a shove, from a player who's short in a good spot to squeeze, with KQ." but yup, too tight :)

well if you think there's a good chance the guy is squeezing or otherwise sort of light you get it in, period because you have enough equity and there's enough in the pot. at some buy-in levels there's a very small chance. at the 22r there's a pretty significant chance. depends on player reads also, obv

Meh. flopped full house is probably the one hand you're allowed to slowplay.

Yeh people have criticized me for cbetting when I miss, and I cbet with any broadway cards I raised pre if they hit, and sometimes if they don't. But don't when I hit monsters.

I just felt I would get all folds and was hoping they had hearts and a heart would fall.. Stupid ?

Yeah I gave up after a similar hand sample. I mainly suck at teh 3bet pots so it seems at 200nl and get f'kin owned. Anyways, I stick to my usuall BRM and take shots at like 40 buy ins.

wow, you and Rex really make it look like the most hellish place. I guess i'll keep on getting 100nl fish's moneyz for a while...

1) If they have hearts, they will pay to draw to them.

2) Any 6 will slowplay. You don't want this, obviously, because hearts, another ace (lol, but it can happen), and other stuff can kill your action.

3) People expect you to c-bet and will peel you with all sorts of hands they shouldn't.

Slowplaying a flopped full house isn't terrible, but the pot is multiway, and I still think the best way to extract value is just to bet your hand. Its human nature to be scared of not getting value for your monster hand. But there's just not many turn cards that are going to allow your opponent to stack off with you, unless they turn a set or something very unlikely. I'd rather slowplay QQ4 with Q4 when you really actually have the deck crippled, K's or A's can roll off and you can get value from turned bigger pairs, ect.

Yup, betting probably gets more stacks, but checking is no error (and Harrington says check here fwiw).

I also suck at 200NL. Mostly because I play like a moron when I move up though. Its definitely beatable.

I'd say if you are crushing 100NL and have ~40 BIs then take a 5 BI shot. See what you think.

Well, i only have 25k hands at 100nl so far, so i can't pretend i crush it either. Maybe i'm just on a huge heater. :) But it the heater keeps going, i'll probably put my toes in the 200nl waters next month.

I was wondering, Irexes, why don't you shortstack your ring games? Wouldn't that be a lot closer to requiring the same set of skills you have so marvelously developed in MTTs where you spend so much time 20bb deep ?

It may not be bad, but is it the best play :p Shoving combodraws is often +EV, but calling them in position is usually more +EV.

Valid point :) I'm at this for the long haul and fully intend to get a monster ring game together in the end (I'm winning, albeit not at a huge rate, and the FPPs more than pay for the Sunday "bigs"). Another year and I'll be there, the speed my game is evolving atm is making me happy.

If I shortstacked it would be short-termism I think (and I'm not one for that) and tbh I'm not sure the similarities would be huge with MTTs other than the stack size. There's so much of MTT play related to the ever-changing context of blinds and payouts, and in ring that's never a factor.

Ask me again in a year :)

Nope sindri, just been made to watch Mamamia while playing, which might have made a good soundtrack I suppose.

Knackered today, so not planning to record, though if I get to the FT I'd probably do a bit on the back of the adrenaline kick :)

Meht, I think its just the usual slowplay vs. don't slowplay debate. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I slowplay, but my image is really LAGgy, so for me personally its probably criminal to do so. I'm not sure it'd make for a good hand analysis thread, but maybe worth posting in a "To slowplay or not to slowplay" strategy forum post?
