6max or FR?
Yes and yes. Just super situational.

6max im happy to stack of with AK against most laggy regs who i know are capable of 3betting light and are willing to stack TT+,AQ+ prf.
Also if there is alot of dead money in the pot im more then happy to stack of against a tighter range( example i open in MP get 3bet by a villain the 3bets like JJ,AQs, two calls from guys i know set mine 3bet pots here im happy to get it in.)

FR i will get it in if villain has a very high 3bet% but in general not against decent players.

You should be willing to stack like A2,KQ,66 ect against the right villains if there range is weak enough even 100bb deep its just about picking the right spot against the right villain.

I was thinking full ring. Also should have made the distinction between shoving and calling. I'd 4-bet shove with a far wider range than I'd call with and wouldn't (in theory) hesitate to shove AK preflop against someone who 3-bets a lot (though in practice I might chicken out and fold; need to work on that - there's an issue with that red line again!)

I have been AIPF with AK 135 times across my 210K hand db and it's a very small loser (2.32bb/hand) over the sample. I play FR fwiw.

I doubt anyone is in profit when getting ak aipf, since your doing it for FE preflop and when you get it in, your expecting ~40% equity vs qq+,a,k

Got it. Thanks, FP and sindri.

If you're going to be priced in anyway, though, and always call if someone shoves over your 4-bet, why not just get it all in yourself and increase your fold equity?

Still not sure I'm comfortable with AK all in but when I'm playing more 6-max will do some experimentation.

Hmm, this seems like reason not get get AIPF with AK, except against very loose raisers. The concensus seems to be that it's a small loser in the long run. I just don't see how this can be good.

becuase if you did this, you would have to 4bet shove with aces, kings,ak, and when you do it light which isn't good, since you want to be able to fold if you 4bet like 6,9 suited and you want to induce 'i think i have fold equity if i shove her' 5bet shoves when you have aces

Cause a 4bet shove is so strong their calling range will be even tighter and you'll lose more money.

Say we're at 100nl. You're MP1 and you open to $4, BTN 3bets to $12, if we do what you say we shove our remaining stack in which is $96. This will almost certainly only be called by AA, KK maybe imo.

While it will yield a big FE, it will also mean your risking a lot for a small pot with only AK.

I didn't really think this one through so let me know if there's anything wrong with what I just said

OK, so this is why I've been flatting a lot with AK, particularly out of position. But you guys are saying that's bad too.

AK = no win situation without luck or frightened opponents, heh. :p

Example 100nl:
Both players have 100BB.
Your raise to 3$, villain 3bets to 12, you 4bet to 35$.
Villain will fold a decent part of his range witch = imitiate profit.
He will also spaz out sometimes and shove over you with a bad hand thinking(wrongly) he has some FE.

Same sample excepted this time when he 3bet to 12$ you shove.
Now you allowing villain to play perfectly against you, he will fold all his bad hands and call with probably something like QQ+,AK.

So yeah shoving just makes it easier for villain to play his hand and we dont whant that.

Edit: ****! Ninjad by waffle boy :(

You do it sometimes so they'll get all in against you with JJ/QQ.

AK actually equals a big win situation. AKo and AKs combined are my 6th best hand in terms of bb/hand and in terms of total $ it's only behind AA and KK.

I should amend that to AK AIPF = no win situation (long run), from what has been said here.

Oh yeah, I love to see AK almost as much as pocket pairs. It can just become troublesome when there's a lot of action.

You are forgetting that the money you win from when you shove but get folds is also profit that AK has when being AIPF.

Anyone got any good movie recomendations? Chances are if it's a movie released in the US in the past 10 years that got any publicity at all, I've seen it and it wasn't good, so don't recommend it.

Edit : Oh, and did anyone else see "The Man From Earth"?

Once you have already invested 3+ bbs with AK by raising or 3-betting (which you are doing the vast majority of the time), it is +EV to then end up on average only losing 2.32bbs if you get it all-in. You lose a lot less than you do by folding at that point.

Seen it, but good movie. Anything with Ed Norton is usually a solid choice.
