Someone save me!!! Today I have been playing and have seen:

KK< JQ
KK< AT (with a set on the flop - straight for him on the river)
AA< Rags
Set over set X2
Flopped nut striaght < Boat

And then... cAPS tilted.

I have started playing every hand, muttering about implied odds and getting unstuck.

Will one of you either smack me across the face or ship me $35 ASAP? Whichever is easier.

And I had promised not to whine.

P.S AND NO MAKING FUN OF THE $35! :)

Wow, I guess the guy was either ensnared by the allure of your river overbet looking like a bluff, or under the control of your zombie mind powers. Either way, nice.

Decided to shortstack my first hands at 400nl in order to get used to the new bet sizes and stuff. Turns out I suck at winning 40bb flips and at avoiding coolers with my KK < AA and villains flopping sets against my TP 20bb deep.

Well, if i can get the coolers 20bb deep and the heaters 100bb deep, i'll sign for that... :D

umm yeah that has nothing to do with luck it's all karma. It's quite simple really, God hates shortstackers.

Man, the $75,000 weekly Supernova freerolls work out to be equivalent to ~$50 buy-in. I gotta start playing those. If you play those every week SN is worth an extra ~$2600.

Really? I thought the freerolls were equivalent to like $15. Problem is I'm almost never around on Saturday afternoons. Ah well.

Last week there were only 1463 people registered.

$75000/1463 = $51.26

One thing odd about playing 200bb's deep is that you're effectively getting close to the odds required to set mine here on the turn. There are two 8's in the deck for about a 19:1 shot at your draw to a set. You're getting 3:1. So when you hit your set, you need to make roughly 16 times that for your call to be correct. In this hand, you risked $4 to win $94.7, or 23.6:1. Even if you know he has kings, you call!

Now, things get more complicated because he still has some equity when you hit a set, and sometimes he won't stack off. But there are 2 key points I want to drive home with this post:

1) If you're stacking off with 1 pair 200bb's deep, you better have a DAMN GOOD REASON to do so. And I don't mean "oh, villain is fishy, and sorta bluffy, so I can call with an overpair here."

2) A well concealed draw to the nuts or near nuts, even if you only have 3-4 outs, can still be a profitable draw to make against opponents who can't fold 1 pair hands when you're playing 200bb's deep.
