I much prefer live play but online is all that is on offer now, with online there is no telling or reads with people which makes it much more difficult and I find online people will literally call 90% of hands with say the lowest pair on the board it’s very bizarre to me but that’s my experience

You can make money from poker if you are à winning player wich need lot of skill study and practice and always play what you can afford to loose with a good bankroll management

The main type of income is work, but if someone succeeds in earning money in poker without having a main job, congratulations !!!

Online you have to be very lucky. And can win a lot fast due to bigger tournaments and more faster entries and re buys. Live It's easier to win and place if you play solid with good fundamentals but it wont be as big pay outs as regular online tournaments unless they are WPT or wsop tournaments for example.

If you make poker your job, you can earn money, it's not easy, but you'll have more time to study and play.
And so you go on with achieving some things.
More for us who do not have poker as work and just as leisure is very difficult, you can even earn some money, but I don't know if it will make you rich lol.

Depends on your philosophy. If you win, someone loses.

This is similar to the process of turning water into wine. There is no fixed salary here, you can't just successfully pass an interview and go to work on Monday. You will need a huge amount of work (some kind of foundation) to at least try to turn this activity into a source of income.

A novice poker player can be unsuccessful for a long time (or even remain so forever) until he makes any progress. The difficulty level of the game itself is also very variable, and this process does not always have a temporary dependence. You can earn an annual fortune in just a few hours (I've done it many times), or you can play for a month and stay in the red (and this has happened to me more than once). But poker is addictive, and also has a significant drawback — it does not allow you to experience satisfaction. Some players find it in an ever-present challenge, while others feel dissatisfied. In addition, one of my main criticisms of the poker community is that when I looked around, I saw a lot of smart and talented people who were just playing cards, instead of leaving their mark on life and creating something really necessary and useful for society. This was one of the main reasons why I decided to end my poker career and start a new stage in my life.

STAY THIRSTY

iF PLAYING POKER CAN BE A CAREER,.. of course it can but usually people pick work that puts money in their pockets. Luck and ability to know predictable outcomes about 70% of the time will increase your odds but variables will always convolute empirical data.. Less experienced players are typically chewed upon by a pro unless great hands are placed in rookie's hands. Live poker brings the nuance of playing the person not the cards. online poker involves playing the software, other bettoirs and casino bots. Good luck, hope anything I've said can help you

So you believe that every outcome online is genuine between you and any other account?

over 90% of poker players lose money
better treat poker as a hobby
100% of poker players loose, even the players that win.

All of us loose, thats a fact. The question is Not win or loose, but how you played.

If its not fun dont play ( read about the subject )

If your starting out, try to consistently get in the money, consistently. ( Games may be long )
The more you play the more you learn, GL

It is a hard way. You must learn a lot. Not only the rules and the way to play. Those things you could control are one thing. Also this aspect of the game is hard to develop it profitable. You must read so many books or course. You must invest alot of time and money to buy some pokertools. Or see hundreds of videos. Then you must develope a good psychologial power. There is an also important side on poker which you not control. This is the bad run, it could be that you have weeks with badruns. And then you must have the power to survive this phase. And that your pokerplay is allways a level and not to get a bad run and play bad poker. I dont no the right statistics but there are under 1% of the players lives from the earnings of poker.

To add to an earlier post, as long as several things continue to occur, only a select few will win on a continuing basis. First, there is an obvious way a person gets setup by the software. Have you experienced three players having a pair , say AA,KK,QQ? Or have you lost with a AA to a smaller pair? Or have you seen lesser hands remarkably beat your better hand? One last one, how many times have you seen the smaller bank with an awesome hand get beta by a larger bank with junk hands? I call it software player elimination. Being aware of what can happen betting out of position with what appears to be a quality hand and being aware of several players all raising before me or after me is a sign of another way for a lesser bank to get eliminated by software.

The second one that I am sure all have experienced is when a person appears to win every hand they bet. I call it software player selection. No matter what any player goes against this player will lose. It also works the opposite way. What I mean is the software selects a player to lose no matter what hands they play. The software will set you up, say with KK for only your next door neighbor comes up with AA. I learned to steer clear of the folks that win use several betting tactics when things look bad, to including folding.

I chance to say that live play is truly random whereas online, it's not.so. I am not saying these things are a fact. What I am saying is watching for these things has improved my game. The best I can figure is I am playing against skilled players plus I am playing against software that can set me up to lose at any time of play.

This is why I said earlier that there is no way to make a living online. Ying and yang - winning, then losing it back.

Cheers!

Poker is not only a good, but EXCELLENT, way to earn money. It's mostly tax free and you are your own boss. If you ever feel like firing yourself check out the "how-to" section of the forum. May the flop be w/you. :icon_salu

This is a very difficult way to earn money! But for some reason I like him! Probably because everything depends only on you!
