That's great because you actually realized it.

Hello community,

Before poker, I viewed money quite differently.

Losing a small amount bothered me a lot. But after playing poker for a while, I realized that variance, risk, and emotional control started to change the way I make decisions, even outside the tables.

At the same time, poker also taught me that not every bad result means a bad decision. Because we can improve from those.

I think that mentality helped me to be calmer in some situations... but sometimes it also made me think too much about everything

Has poker also changed the way you approach money, risk, or decision-making in real life?
I'm not yet on that big Cashbacks, so definitely not

I haven’t changed much — I feel money more when it’s physical cash or in my bank account. But in poker, sometimes it just feels like numbers or play money to me, and I can lose it carelessly and regret it later.

Poker in my life has always been, is, and will always be a very pleasant addition to my everyday life. It's also a pleasant way to improve my household budget.

Poker definitely changes how you think about money and decisions in real life. It teaches you to separate outcomes from process, so a “bad result” doesn’t automatically mean a bad choice, which helps you stay calmer under uncertainty. You also become more comfortable with risk and variance, understanding that short-term swings don’t define long-term success. At the same time, it can make you more analytical in everyday decisions, sometimes even overthinking situations that don’t actually require that level of depth. Overall, it tends to improve emotional control and risk awareness, as long as you keep balance between poker logic and real-life context.
