i do smoke alot when playing online poker but i smoke hooka, since i started playing (about one year ago) i ve increased a lot my costs with tobacco and charcoals but for me is like poker and smoking were made to each other. I've already tried to slow down but its real hard for me as i love both things

In livepoker at the 80ties it was normal an it belongs to the game. But the time is running fast. The common structure of the life is developing and smoking is not so popular. So i think it is not more allowed in most if the casinos. In onlinepoker everybody has his own decision.

I think in the 70's they were actually promoting smoking as beneficial to healt LOL. I've seen it on a documentary the logo "Are you smoking enough?" and I thought to myself wowzers .
Not defending my smoking habit , but I assume alcohol makes much more victims than smoking, because alcohol not only has an impact to the drinking individual but to the ones close to you ( agresivness , domestic violence) . On top of it it is the addiction that is most hard to get rid of if ever ( more difficult than h addiction because you can find it cheap everywhere)

Smoking in live games are now banned in many places and should remain sane . As smoking during online games is concerned, it’s upto the person if he wants to smoke

Smoking

Well don't feel alone as like you I smoke as well and have for many years. I know it is crazy that we know it isn't good for our health and yes the cost is rasing 00LOL here in Colo they imposed a $2.50 increase in tax per pack so know I go to Wy where a carton is $30 less per carton. Guess there are worst habits and more costly as well. I have cut down by chewing Nicorette gum --it helps so you might want to give it a try

Maybe they'll rebrand bars as 'Alcohol Social Clubs' or something similar in order to circumvent that law.

(But I know my compatriots well enough to confidently say that this would lead to a public uprising.)

I used to chain smoke , especially playing poker !!
So glad I quit, it's only been a few months now, but way better !

I still smoke weed though, more than ever !

If I understand you, luckily I smoke but it's been a week since I stopped smoking, everything is in the desire and how strong you are mentally to make the decision to quit. If you mind you can leave it.

Fortunately, I don't have to deal with this problem because I don't smoke. Personally, I think that smoking is one of the stupidest things a person does to their body.

until the 80s, smoking was also allowed in chess tournaments, and many grandmasters and world champions also smoked, they say Tal could smoke 2-3 packs of cigarettes per game, but then in Karpov's time they realized that physical condition could affect the course of the game, and then eventually banned. Then the time was like this, they smoked a lot and everywhere.

Yes you are right! It's a stupid habit!
I smoke a pack of cigarettes a day!
But you should know that there are more stupidities in our daily lives!
Do you eat fast food? Do you drink Coke? How much time do you spend on social media every day?
The list of stupidities can go on ...

lol, same here! I lighten up a cigarette, absent-mindedly smoke it while being busy with something, and after 5 minutes I've forgotten all about it and crave yet another one. This wasn't always the case, but it seems that the older I get, the more nicotine I require to stay sharp and focused.

I don't smoke. However, i have heard that smoking can subtly even out the breath and thus calm the nerves. Therefore, i would agree that smoking can calm down during a tense game.

I don't smoke at all. I can't stand it when someone smokes nearby. Even if the neighbors smoke on the balcony, I immediately close the window, so this is not acceptable during the game. I used to watch a poker stream where the player smoked a lot, I think that's the reason I stopped watching it.
