I don't know who is the best, but I think the current wsop ME champion, Michael Mizrachi, should be in the discussion.

The most complete poker player today is the Brazilian Yuri Dzivielevski; he plays well in all poker variants and even won his sixth WSOP bracelet this morning.

Phil Ivey just finished 3rd in the 2026 WSOP $50K Poker Players Championship , quite impressive . Benny Glaser won it , and Josh Arieh was 2nd .

It's hard to pick just one because poker has different formats, but for No Limit Hold'em tournaments, I'd mention Adrian Mateos.

He has been incredibly consistent at the highest stakes and has won multiple major titles, including WSOP bracelets and Triton events.
His main games are high-stakes live MTTs and high rollers, where the competition is extremely tough.

What makes him special is his adaptability, mental toughness, and ability to make great decisions under pressure.

Other names that deserve mention are Stephen Chidwick, Jason Koon, and Michael Addamo.
There may not be a single "best" player, but Adrian Mateos is definitely among the strongest all-around tournament players in the world today. ♠️

If I had to pick one overall, I'd probably say Adrián Mateos. He seems to perform at the highest level year after year against the toughest fields, and that's what impresses me the most. Consistency over a long period is a better measure than one huge score.

There are several players who are very good, some say Adrián Mateos or bencb789, but they are playing 25k 50k tournaments, with 150 or 200 players, in my opinion there is not much merit playing small tournaments and where the majority are crazy millionaires playing poker.
I have more respect for a player who is constantly winning in 3000 player tournaments.
