Will you allow your children to play poker under the age of 18

Personally, I allow them to play poker after 18 years old, but I don't think that this will greatly affect their psyche until they are 18 years old. what do you think ?

I dont have kiods right now but i believe there's no harm on letting kids play cards. if you are speaking about addiction there's a lot of things ike videogames, sugar, junkfood etc. Keep in mind that i would let them play for fun not for money.

My 6 and 12 year old love playing poker as does my 9 year old niece. Now they dont play for money but for fun with the family. Its a lot of fun. I also have used poker to teach my kids 1st to could and to do math. I still cant forget the look on my 5 year olds teacher face when she asked who taught my daughter to to could so hi at such a young age. How " by counting chips."

If a child copes with his responsibilities, studies well and listens to the advice of his parents, then in my opinion, such a child can play poker even at the age of 10. But I don't mean poker for money.

I learned to play poker and other card games myself as a kid, I also played chess. If you can learn how to distinguish a game for fun and at the same time explain what a reasonable game is, there is nothing wrong with that. Of course, I'm not talking about playing for money here, but you still have to separate it and explain it clearly.

Playing cards is in our family from when I can remember.

And as the kids grow the cards games they play shift to playing poker.

So its a natural.
But strictly for fun.

After they have grown big enough to earn for themselves, they do what ever they like.

Starting when I was about fourteen or fifteen, my parents would let me have alcohol on special occasions...holiday meals, family get togethers, etc. Only one drink and I wasn't allowed to leave the house for at least two hours. I believe this made me less likely to abuse alcohol when I turned 21. Whether or not this was the reason, I don't know.

I'd let my (future?) kids play poker under 18, but not for money, and not with other kids. They can learn the game with their family and maybe this will help them understand that it can get dangerous if they lose control. It's a card game...if they're interested, why not?

For fun it's definitely OK and poker(also other card games) can be a great activity to do as a family. Also, like other members said we should stop thinking of poker as a bad influence and we should actually teach the young ones to be responsible for their actions(there are so many things nowadays that can slip out of control like games, junk food, different social media platforms... and IMO no matter how careful you are you can't really monitor everything your kids do).

poker sites don't allow play for money to those under 18 & those who play, or encourage or allow their children to are play on these sites are behaving irresponsibly. As to teaching your children to play the game at an early age, your kids, your decision.
