I learned at a very young age when I was 4 or 5. My Dad, Uncles, Grandpa and thier friends played on the weekends.......7 card stud was my game..........I was lucky enough to get some tutorage in the 70's from the good old boys in Vegas..........Plus dealing in the casinos one picks up lots of hints, cycles and reads..............Rock

first time i played a lot on betfred..till i realise..it wasnt so great..comparing to titan poker even if i liked it more the graphical of the cards at betfred..i got used with the one on titan 😀

I learned how to play on the xbox believe it or not. I rented a game called stacked with Daniel Negreanue. He actually had some really good tips and I think my style is similar to his...except that I am far from being that good. Then I started playing on AOL ....they actually have a poker site that you can win a seat at the wsop. So many people in those tournies but a good experience. I have not read a book...I am learning the hard way🙄 but probably should since this is starting to be an expensive hobby😀

Hi,
we used to have 'game' nights' where my family would play board games during the night with a load of drinks thrown in.
Thinking poker would be a nice change I tried to organise a home hold em game with family, it was the first time for every one but unfortunately it coincided with the final for pop idol so took backstage 🙁.
Needless to say it didnt run well, but i stuck at it, played some play money games and hit the 1 cent tables, since then i have played a few online sites. I started on 888 but after a long long spell of bad beats i dropped them, i've been using WPT now, couldnt be happier.
I keep my head above water - just 😀
Now i organise regular home games £10 buy in. I have started a poker epidemic amongst my friends lol

Paul.

I learned how to play post "Rounders" and we got some cheap plastic chips and a deck of cards... we had to loook up the rules online and then still got confused a few times.

I would have to say that I am still trying to learn the game today. Playing on a bunch of sites and posting on my blog.

Best way to learn is with friends and beers.

At least that's how I learned to play and it worked for me. Although I have seen online poker sites with great tutorials for beginners. If you want you can email me and I will gladly recommend a site for you. I dont want to get banned here so I wont put any URL's

Take care,

P-ball

I'm not french nor did I study the language in school but I think ducat is saying that he's been playing poker online for the last 3 months

I learned to play hold 'em with some former co-workers that would have cash games on the weekends. It took me a while to learn what was going on and then I started playing online with PartyPoker. Switched over to PokerStars and I am still learning!!!!

Learn to play

I learned on pokerroom.com and what a mistake that was. That site is very bad...

I learned some weird forms of poker with friends. Im guessing they came up with most of them.

Downloaded pokerstars, and discovered that what i was playing wasnt poker lol. So learned holdem online.

I learned by watching it on tv. I played at Foxwoods in 2003 and won a little at the $2/$4 table but I didn't know enough to really know what I was doing at the time. I can't wait to go to another casino to try again.

My father taught me when I was 8 and he taught my children when they were 4 and 6 - all good players too! At one local "family" tournament, my 14 year old son was playing and winning. I stood behind him, one of the players at the table looked at me and asked if I was Frank's daughter. I said yes. He then said Okay, you belong to Frank, he belongs to you, I fold! Luck, skill, superstition, or reputation - all count!

i used to play with my brother and his friends when i was like 12 .. used to come to their table with a dollar or two and clean em out at .05/.10 blinds

😛

I knew the game, but learned the most early (pre internet) at occasional table where the main ingredient was the most recent import from bogata. Multi function cards you know.

learned to play

i learned to play on absolute poker, pretty loose with the betting, has more (idiots) than most sites, but visually is nice

i only learned to beat my husband

my husband always played online at bodog and oneday he went to work i decided to play. i actually entered the qualifier tourney to win a chance to play in vegas..... i won two back to back...that equaled 500 tournament credits.. i had no idea what i did, then he came home and was like holy skadfjlafjl how did you do that? i then became addicted and never stopped. i like poker.. probrally not as good as him still but i can hold my own.

Pokerschoolonline. Learned a lot there, games were light years ahead of play money while not risking any real money. I have no doubt that had I gone straight into real money play I would have had a much more expensive "education".

i learned the basics watching WPT!! hehe

then i tried to teach my friends.

the betting structure WAS SO WRONG. we bet, raised, and re-raised without regard for the blind or the previous bets.

it was only when i played online at pokerroom.com that i discovered the mistake 😛

learned as a counsellor at johns hopkins "center for the talented youth" camp... which made me feel very stupid with such young kids teaching me the game.

I started when I was a mere bloom on the tree lol.

Seriously, I started learning about poker when I was a child at my Grandparent's home. I sat on my Grandfather's lap watching the "men" play poker at family gatherings. Mannnnnnn, could he bluff lol.

I learnt when i got into sixth form (seniors to you yanks i think) with friends in our free periods to pass the time..
I liked it so much i thought id like to try some online and my friends all suggested pokerstars so it was play chips or me until about a year ago when i plucked up the courage to put my hard earned pounds into the system and ive been doing pretty well ever since 😀
