Do you use table talk to gather information, or do you prefer keeping your mouth shut and staying perfectly balanced?

Hi!

I love to talk, sometimes because I'm boring; sometimes I want to distract someone... 😉

It depends on the company you’re playing with—if they’re your buddies, why not talk during the game?

I like to speak at the beginning, and extract the most information, and then, with the information obtained, make better decisions

online i trash talk a lot ; it got me in trouble in the CC community games ! when i play live i almost never say anything .

i am always willing to talk while playing so that i can distract my opponents😛😛

I love talking to opponents just to see what kind of information I can get from them, see what they will voluntarily let me know about their experience or playing style.

I think table talk is great so long as it's respectful. I love it when people start telling jokes back and forth. Poker is supposed to be fun.

As for getting info, I might ask something like, "Did you have the flush?" and sometimes they answer so it's good.

A couple of times I have told my opponent the hand or a hand that I have him on and then raise and watched him fold. The best was when I told a guy that he had 2-pair, then flat called him on the flop. When he checked the turn I bluffed a complete airball and he laid down pretty quick. One of my finest moments, but you have to use that very sparingly or people will catch on that you're full of it when you're always talking hands at the table.

Online, I can’t type fast enough to have a conversation…when playing live, I sometimes engage in non-poker conversations…talk about the best restaurants or interesting travel stories. I don’t trash talk, and I don’t get bothered by other players who do trash talk…inside I laugh at players who try to intimidate me with trash talking…in one tournament, one player who stood approximately 6’5” and looked like he could bench press 500 lbs. tried to intimidate me by making a raise, then standing over me. I called his raise and took the pot…the dealer asked him to sit down and stop the shenanigans.

Unless you're all-in, standing up during the hand is absolutely forbidden. Now he may not have known that but the floor needed to give him a warning.

In this case it was also a stupid idea because it screams, "I'm bluffing the hell out of you!" : P

He wasn’t too keen on rules and he thought that his physical stature was enough to bully opponents, and intimidate the dealers…but his poker skills were average at best…good solid play and a huge stack is what scares me in poker…

If postive talking then 😃
Some players starting abusing or show frustration when losses

Depends whether I am playing with friends or strangers. I often smack talk a bit with friends, with strangers not really.

I actually like a bit of table talk. Sometimes the random conversations are more entertaining than the hands themselves 😂 As long as nobody is being rude or slowing the game down, I'm all for it.

Haha, that's a good story 😂. Love the juxtaposition of looking like a beast, and then getting told to sit down by the dealer, and taking the pot with a call to his raise. Probably a good move not engaging in the trash talk either. ♠️

I only play live with my friends. So, we do talk about random things while getting stacked 😂
