I’ve noticed that table chat can sometimes be funny and entertaining, but it can also become distracting when players start arguing after a hand. When I’m trying to concentrate, I sometimes prefer not seeing any of it. Do you enjoy reading table chat while playing, or do you usually ignore it?

When I'm playing just one or two tables, I keep the sound on. When I'm playing more tables i usually turn it off because the mix of sound effects gets chaotic... lol.
For me, the most important sounds are the ones that signal it's my turn and warn that the time limit is running out! Keeping only those active can be a good option!

Kind of entertaining to keep it on, though very rarely use it myself. There is not much happening most of the time in any games I play.

If I am in a tournament aside from the CC league (been a while for any poker), I will close the chat and pay more attention to stats, etc.

Chat is a tool, not an obligation. A player keeps it on when they can extract useful information from it, and mutes it when it only consumes attention or causes tilt.

I completely ignore it. I’ve actually had my chat muted for years now.

Many sites dont even have a chat box anymore. But if its still there (like PokerStars), I never mute it. It gives me free information about, who is recreational and want to chat, who is on tilt etc. :)

I really enjoy the interaction in the chats, even when it involves joking around. I like throwing objects at players to have a laugh and loosen things up—all within reasonable limits, of course, without aggression or excessive insults.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me, but it's true that some players try to distract you that way. If you can't focus, it's best to mute them and keep playing.

Yes, I prefer to keep the chat active. I really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the banter at the table, but I completely ignore post-hand discussions so I can focus on my game.

I usually prefer to mute the table chat when I’m trying to play seriously. Sometimes the conversation can be funny and it’s nice to have a relaxed atmosphere, but once players start arguing or talking about previous hands, I find that it can become distracting.

I also think there can be a strategic side to paying attention to chat. The way someone reacts after winning or losing a hand can sometimes tell you something about their personality or emotional state at the table. However, I don’t think it’s worth sacrificing concentration just to look for those small clues.

For me, it really depends on the game and my mindset. If I’m playing casually, I don’t mind the chat at all. But if I’m trying to make good decisions and avoid unnecessary distractions, I’d rather mute it and focus on the cards, positions and betting patterns.

Do you think experienced players can actually get useful information from table chat, or is it mostly just a distraction?

Do you ever mute the poker table chat?

Yes - I used to keep the chat and animations active because of the CardsChat community games and/or some other online private/home games... but nowadays I've disabled everything: chat, throwables and most of the other useless animations... this things can be fun in some situations and/or give you info on your opponents, still it can be a distraction too and IMO it's better to just avoid this and concentrate on playing your A game...

Never, but if someone is constantly typing too much and it's obvious they're doing it just to annoy other players, I might mute them. But honestly, I don't think I'd do it very often.
