In my opinion, online $50 at low limit, live, depends on the table you want to play, I usually look for tables with low buy in

The recommended thing is to have 100 buy ins...but I prefer to have even more than that...variance is very complicated in online poker

it's so easy to deposit these days, I only keep a few buyins on the software... it can also be used as a buffer to prevent tilting off a large amount

I think this depends a lot on the player you are, for example I'm opting to play more freerolls and I don't care about the account balance, that's because I don't play professionally but if that were the case I think to start at least a bankroll of 100 dollars

I would love to be able to participate in the Sunday Million in pokerstars every week, then my appetite would be satisfied

You know it's only a $109 direct buy-in so not impossible depending on what your day jobs is and how much you make. If I only wanted to play the Sunday Million every week. I'd start be playing as much as I could afford to direct buy-in for. Maybe that's only once or twice a month. In between my playing weeks I'd be studying and be watching all the final table replays from pervious weeks.

Even one who works a min wage job here in canada they should be able to play at least once a month. Maybe you get lucky and run deep in one of those shots. Can't win or win decent money if one never take them shots.

Cheers!!!

For cash games: Depends on which default playing style you perform
and your skill level. Basically only two playing styles can be profitable beyond the baby stakes: TÁG and LAG. Worth mentioning that there’s subdivisions under the TAG and LAG monikers.
Been playing for 20 years. Transformed from TAG to LAG when GTO kicked in some ten years ago. LAG means more volatility and thus a bigger bankroll requirement. I go by 100 buy ins at $2/5 which equals $50.000.
I don’t do tournament poker.

Best regards from Copenhagen, Scandinavia

The more the better, but I like that there is more than 1 K !
I think $200-300 is the most optimal bankroll for me. But I use this bankroll for betting on sport events, not for buy-ins to tournaments or cash games. I only need $0.80 to play poker to complete the daily Challenges on PokerStars. :)

The 100x your bankroll seems to have become the common practice for awhile now I struggle with when to move up in blinds/ $ entries and when to cut my losses and go back down.

This is very important. Many players struggle to go back down as you call it. Perhaps it is mainly an ego issue. But scaling down is a sound choice. Especially according to The Peter Principle.

To stay hungry, I prefer to keep BR as low as I can, enough for a few buy ins and a cash game or SnG here and there. It makes a player have to buy in, or increase BR more often, but the times I have built a BR, I go through it quickly. It's made me superstitous, if I build a BR, I'm doomed to lose it. My preference only, your BR rules may be different, all players play their own style.

keeping a large amount of money in a poker account is dangerous
1.hackers
2.bankruptcy or closure of the poker site
3.diminution in value of money
4.other options
5,I forgot to mention that when you keep a lot of money in your poker account, there is also the risk of losing money quickly while playing it
for example, a person who used to play for 100 dollars suddenly starts playing for 1000

The “problem” is if you play high stakes. If you i.e. play NL1000 it is not optimal to have less than 30 buy-ins due to variance. Hence, you should only play at PokerStars. They have been the market leader for twenty years. Today GG Poker is bigger due to a sudden growth. I do not trust this site. Others may think differently.

Uy I guess if you have at least $200 in your account, then there's a lot of possibilities for you to make 1000

As long as I have 500x bi for 100+ entrants tournament or a 600x bi for a 5000+ entrants tournament I'm happy

Also if I have 100x bi for a SNG then I'm also happy, if a site has SNGs then I'm ecstatic 😊

but if I go from $200 to $1000 then there is a risk that I can get sick and lose all of that $1200 and for the next 20 years feeding a poker site with $1200 times 1000 that's 120000 dollars !!!!(not 100% but there is a risk)

there will be more from me......

In general, $100-$150 is enough for me. But of course, if it's more, for example $500, that's great, because I can immediately withdraw $350 :)
