Inevitably Gibraltar has a more favourable tax regime for this type of company and hence it is based there. They will comply with the rules in Gibraltar that are inevitably more relaxed than many other countries. This is just business sense and doesnt make the site any more 'dodgy'.

They are not registered with the UK gambling commission though which is a red flag for me same as Stars in Costa Rica.

I stand corrected. I knew they had received several massive multi million pound fines from the UK gambling commission for money laundering but I just assumed it was something they wouldn’t pay. I’m guessing with Gibraltar still being British overseas territory then they can force them to pay.

I saw that too. I think it's a case that gibraltar is the parent company and then they have a UK subsidiary, and probably a subsidiary in all the other countries they operate in. So I think it was the UK company that got the fine, but obviously they had to pay up.

I have a distant relative who I got to speak few months back, and he used to work as quality manager in Indian Poker Website/App. He confirmed to me that Apps/website do control based on your history that who you play against with, so house can make most rake.

My next obvious question was which I wanted to know from horse mouth, does these online poker companies tickle with number generator because I have observed if you are all in against a lower stack, you % winning to win that all in will be higher despite the poker odds of your hand. He told me that he was not aware of any such method but that does not confirm that they do not, if they can choose who you play against, I feel they can always have a say on how game runs.

So, I am very skeptical of playing online games, or maybe because I suck so much in online poker, I am biased. However, my performance on live poker is far better so it really makes me think about the integrity of online poker and I do not know if there is anything these companies can do to win my confidence because their goal is to make money.

Another example, all poker companies in India are covering 28% tax on deposits by customers, so they must make more than 28% rake to be in profit if they are purely entertaining Indian poker players which seems very dodgy.

Very good question nowadays!
In my opinion i would add more verifications in the beginning phase of a tournament like - im not a robot test when you are currently not in an active hand - maybe @ cashgames a personal question for you before you buy- in.
I wouldn´t recommend that poker sites advise players to turn their cameras on because that would be a deep impact into privacy and online poker would loose most of recent players.
I would never play high stakes poker online and deposit a lot of money because in the past there were a lot of fraud cases @poker platforms and it is not a big problem if you loose 10-100$ but 1000$ or more can be a disaster.

An indian poker app (or for that matter any app) is not exactly the gold standard of the online poker industry. Of course its reasonable to have way less confidence in such an operator than in large, international and reputable operators like GG Poker and PokerStars. Yes GG Poker just had a security breach, but at least they were relatively open about it and presumably fixed it, so it can not happen again. Also what you describe is not really cheating but of course still not something, we want as players. PartyPoker did something similar many years ago and recieved a lot of heat for it.

I think poker sites are safe when it comes to cheating. If I believed otherwise, I simply would not invest money or time in their poker rooms. I find it illogical that many people complain and continue playing on those sites. Do they have so many desires to play poker? believing that they are cheating. you just have to be reasonable

Always invest in security technology.
Hackers are always one step ahead, but it is necessary to be aware of all signs of possible strange things (a player who suddenly starts winning many tournaments, for example) and make constant updates trying to catch any invasion early on.
Furthermore, players must recognize their limits and which tournaments they can actually participate in without harming their finances.

Many of the online sites US players have access to are shady to say the least . I think getting maximum rake is the company goal , not customer service , fairness or integrity !I am content to play the tiny stakes where funny business is presumably less frequent .

I think most of the sites lack in that aspect. I would be glad to see a feedback from time to time from the sites with the measures that they are taking and the number of people that has been suspended due to cheating in some period.Most of the sites don´t say a word about that aspect, only when something get a bigger proportion, like the case on ggpoker recently.

greetings, I honestly don't care about bots or hackers, I think they can be beaten if you play correctly and in general I think if I played at a professional level on an online platform, it would make me a better player, that is, I would play more carefully but as I play for fun, I don't care

Best advice would be to only play on better rated poker sites such as Poker Stars, MGM, wsop, Harrahs, Bovada, etc. They are State regulated, and less likely to take advantage of their players, as opposed to the offshore sites controlled by who knows who!
Just like playing here on Replay Poker, you're probably going to finish well once in awhile, but you're not going to end up winning all of the time. Much easier to lose play chips than real money.
Overall, not much more (imho) that you can do to feel secure.

I don't think there will ever be 100% security

! This is what online poker brings with it, like everything that has to do with computer technology.
It says: "Nothing is impossible"

But as long as I play with low stakes, can pay out winnings every now and then and don't lose the joy of the game because I'm convinced that I'm being cheated, I'm very optimistic about it

I have been playing online poker since the beginning and I can honestly say the only time I really worried
about the integrity of online poker was the 2011 Full Tilt scandal.
Apart from that I never even give it a thought.
10 years ago when I was working as a prop I did lose money on a couple of sites, WPE and Pitbull to name a couple
but that was part of the chance you took for the big rakeback.
So I think online poker is as safe as any other company and I don't give it a thought.

It is difficult to say something because bots and fraud on poker sites are very difficult to identify and control. Of course, I wish the poker sites should adhere to the rules of fair play first of all, and this should be monitored by the relevant regulatory authorities observantly.

This will sound funny, but what makes me feel the most secure is when the site refunds me money from playing against cheaters. This means they are looking for them, they caught at least 1, and they are trying to make it right with the players.

Even this is not the end all of security, I once played at a PLO cash table against cheaters and while I still was profitable they gave me $50 for because they said I would have won even more. A couple of months later the site disappeared with my money.

This is the best protection against cheating, we can get as players. And of course playing on reputable sites with a good security team. For me PokerStars check all these boxes, so I would rate it as the safest site currently available.

I think playing against bots is a given at any online poker site . If for no other reason than to level the competition. I don't agree with these things but feel it is inevitable. I am not a robot is a great idea for logging into poker sites .

Still I will believe bots are part of the online poker world and hard to detect .

To be honest, I don't feel any danger. First of all, I play poker on those sites that have been tested by time and have an appropriate, good reputation. Also, I don't keep more than $100 in my poker account. But in general, I would like to understand that poker sites are working on their security systems to prevent cases of fraud. What sites can do to make players feel safe is strengthening the work of security specialists, allocating appropriate funds and possibly creating some additional, independent system of certification of poker sites on the subject of cyber security.

I think that its very hard to feel safe in any poker room and the only way i could feel safe is that if i was owning the poker room myself.Sadly where i live we are mostly ban from any room so no problem with the security i guess.
