Yeah for most players, one of the lines will be positive and one negative. It doesn't matter which as long as you're winning.

Do I get an award for flopping the nuts and having the worst runout ever?

I even lolfolded to a 1/6th pot bet OTR.

I call the river there Matt. He doesn't have a flush and 9x is unlikely. FH would bet more OTR as well so I think he has an 8, which we obv beat.

You know I did consider I might actually have him beat but only after I folded. The only info I had was that he is 4 tabling so probably not a super fish. Only a weaktight fish. Dunno about bare 8x TBH. His flop raise/calling range that includes draws is probably combo draws. I figure I beat like A9 and 98 so it's a question of whether we can discount FH/flushes enough based on sizing to make it a call. Not willing to say he never sizes this way with either of those hand strengths. At the time I was just like "lolhowbadarunoutisthisimobvsobeatletsfoldtoavoidspew"

The board isn't all that terrible tbh. It's not 8♧ and T♧. It's not running 6s. The turn and river at least allow a some hands you can beat to maybe put some more money into the pot (9x and 8x hands respectively). Yeah you no longer have the nuts but holding the stone cold nuts on every (or even any) post flop street is a rare luxury. Definitely never folding for 75 cents.

Arran the red line could be a little better. Depends on the stakes, among other things. We'll see how things look after a longer period of time.

Buy in full.

Raise the flop. Why are we checking the turn? Get the bloody money in!

When he raises the river it's possibly a fold there. Doubt he's raising worse. A nit probably doesn't raise Jx.

Against a nit or the toughest of players... I still couldn't fold this, if we start folding these hands we might as well put a target on our head as weaktight.

Shouldn't we be betting the turn??? I know we want weaker hands to call but seriously who's going to be betting a J or Q or even a weaker ace when a flush or straight comes out... It's a disaster and we won't get any value if we don't bet the turn.

We going to bet the river when the str or flush comes out?? ... We just digging our own grave on the turn checking, we can't even bluff better hands on the river if the str or river comes out for plan B. ( we can always represent it ) and fold better hands.

Hard to know where we are at in the hand but i'm calling but not confident at all... He's probably wanting us to reraise or shove the river, feels like a trap on the river...

I'd guess good fold there... But ive known to bluff with medium-low bet to steal these types of hands.

Why not Squeeze here? Not a good spot? He's obv not strong by just limping.

How is that true at all? They don't know what we folded... That's my opinion and I am far from weak/tight.

The point is, can you name a worse hand that raises the river?

Just because we have a monster doesn't mean we are good. Yes if I was playing I probably call it off but realistically I don't think we are good that often. At 5nl it's probably alright calling off but at higher limits you need to learn to save money in spots like this where the villain is competent.

Easier explaination your right... we are crushed theres nothing but a bluff we beat... only a 8 which is probably not possible since he didn't reraise so he's probably got a made hand. but then he could just be letting us do the pushing....

Checking the turn may give us a better answer to where we are at???

JC, for the T8 hand what would you recommend for flop sizing + turn sizing?

2x on flop are usually the nuts like sets+, JQs will make sense because his 2x pre, TT will show more often i think, QQ/AQ with the diamond not sure raise.
can't discard AA/KK that could explain his small open trying to induce 3b's but we have blockers and maybe 4b pre, älso could have AK too or just be fos.

Agree with Matt and could peel one for that prize but unless is FOS i don't think we are good often, so call is not bad but on zoom kind of want to fold vs unknown

That's my reasoning of calling the river as well..... But seriously how often is the opponent bluffing in that spot honestly?

I'd definetly call that flop.

if the turn is a blank we x/f .... act the same as we get our card as well

if it's another diamond we raise 3/4 of the pot. Better hands will fold...

I never said they were bluffing?

I'm going for implied odds all day. Sorry that wasn't clear I guess
