I think that it is not considered a sport because it does not count as a physical competition that is the main characteristic of sports, but I also think that it can be considered a game or science sport as is chess (a game that I also practice).

hi.I don't consider chess or poker a sport,it's an intellectual activity,more a job than a sport.with such success,you can call everyone who has a job related to intellectual activity athletes.I don't know who came up with the idea that chess,poker and video games are sports,it's ridiculous.))

I would consider it a sport. You could compare it to chess as it is thinking ahead of your opponent with I slight element of luck. It has massive amounts of competition and requires training if you want to become competent or even advanced. The rewards go to the best players in the end which is exactly what defines sport. It’s just mental and not physical

My opinion poker is considered as a sport as you do have professionals. I don't think it would be in the Olympics though just because there is no Olympic sports that are like poker, but they could always add it in later.

Not a sport

Poker isn't a sport to me, its competitive but there isn't anything athletic about poker that makes me think "sport". You can train, eat right, study, and still lose to inferior competition regularly when prepared or even in your prime. example: Kansas City Chiefs would destroy some community college football team 100/100 times but in poker luck happens everyday... maybe that's an aspect of the sport of poker is the parity created by luck but My vote is still a no to poker being a sport (unless knockout tournaments are part boxing match

allthough poker is very intensive, i dont see poker as a sport.
I play many hours a day, it gets me tired, but im not a sportsman in it.

Think its gaming like darts, chess, cards, e-sports, etc.

At first, I thought poker was pure luck, but watching several Live tournaments and seeing the same players always stay in the top ranks made me question myself. Today I believe that the game is 65% skill and 35% luck, maybe more maybe less, but most of the sports luck is considered, some more and some less, but if you take this into account then Poker can be considered a sport.:icon_bigs
