I most definitely consider it a sport. Sport isn't just about the physical, but also the mental and poker takes tons of mental strength.

A game

Good morning everyone.
I know that poker, like chess, is regulated as a sport of the mind, but I consider it as a game and not a sport. I consider a sport everything that involves physical activity in competition, football, boxing, running, swimming and so on.
It is very difficult to accept that I am playing a stopped sport.
More if they are saying that it is a sport, for me everything is fine.

of course yes, if chess is considered a sport for being strategic I don't see why poker cannot be considered a sport, ESPN also does it, so if it is a sport

Yes, trouble is the term sport is very loosely defined. I think in many sports you have to go through a mental process which is very much like the one you do when you are playing poker. Evaluate situations, probabilities, opponent psycology, our own. The fact that you don't lose weight by playing it is secondary to me.

I dont consider poker as a sport, chess should not be a sport neither..

Because later every table game is gonna have an argument to be a sport, you have to do some phisical activity to be called as a sport

I don't think that will happen, the reason is because at the tables you can see several fat guys with their sandwiches and sodas, you couldn't relate them to a sport.

It will always be considered a gambling game even though its much more than just that. Its highly competetive and skill related while at the same time depending on a certain % of chance.

Definitely it is a sport... For my understanding, to be competitive on poker you gotta be prepared mentally and also fisicaly, just as much as any other sport in a professional level
