Do you smoke more because of poker?

I learned from bitter experience, smoking does nothing for you on or off the tables.
people who say it helps them concentrate are fooling themselves and trying to justify their habit. I smoked for over 40 years, 2 packs a day and when I stopped I was spending £16.00 a day for my habit, That's close to £6,000.00 a year, but it wasn't the money that stopped me, It was the massive Heart attack I suffered and had to have a Triple Heart By-Pass operation.
Has my Game suffered since I quit? No! I get the same results as I did before I quit smoking. Has my Concentration diminished? No! I can still do the things I used to do, ie. work out the number of outs I might have and the pot odds of winning a hand etc, It is still there in my head,
Quitting Smoking has not improved my health as that is shot to hell already, but it sure made my Bank Account healthier.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

I don't smoke but if I would smoke poker would definitely make me smoke more.

I don't see the idea of smoking at the time of playing as good because you are always looking to concentrate and see every weakness of the players and try to improve every day

I used to smoke more, yes indeed. I always wanted to quit cigarettes, and sometimes I actually did manage to quit for a short while... but then I would head to the casino to play my favorite game, poker, and I had zero will power and would always head to the cigarette machine to buy a pack.

Eventually, thanks to nicotine gum, I was able to overcome my addiction to smoking. Of course, then I became addicted to the nicotine gum instead. LOL But after two years I was able to quit the gum too, thank goodness. It's been about five years now and even when I'm near someone smoking a cigarette I have no urge at all, in fact, cigarettes are disgusting to me again, just the way it should be.

Im a smoker. I dont smoke in the house though. So generally have a quick cig on a break. But when i was younger i was a chain smoker whilst playing poker.

I quit smoking many years ago. But I guess It cause more smoking. I think the smoking goes very very well with smoking. But as you know, for your health you should quit it.

14 years ago when I started playing poker - YES, I was smoking real more because of it. I participated in every SNG and MTT and they had only 5 minute break in one hour. I had to smoke 3 cigarettes in 5 minutes. And played next and next. So if it was Saturday or Sunday this repeated from early morning till late night.
If you look closely you will see that we smoke when stressed and concentrated. So poker multiplies those feelings and if you are a smoker you smoke more and if you are a non-smoker you won't start because nicotine won't help if you not addicted.

The only thing I do about poker is a lot of nervousness. Won or lost - it doesn't matter. The heart jumps out constantly ... And I smoke a lot because of the girls
