You can't stop at one win (even a big one) - you should always improve your level of play. It might be worth moving to higher limits if you win big at poker.

It is all about the luck. Especially when you are playing online it is more difficult to bluff and the skills you have them - you know how to play , so you should have more luck .

Skill and luck, it is obvious that both of these factors are important for success. But still, I think in the long run, a player's skill plays a more important role than his luck.

Hi! I think short-distance poker is luck, and long-distance poker is skill. But I think a lot of people will say that. When you play a little and experience and knowledge is not enough, it seems that everywhere bots and luck is not on your side. skill vs luck, no science can determine that ratio, as skill should define when you put in your chips, with the knowledge of what the chances of your hand holding up or hitting are.

Luck is simply the variance of, so when you put in those chips at the right time, you should win more than lose.
You are gambling from behind if you're open ended or on a flush draw (or both) as it misses more than it hits, even though online it feels like nobody misses...so one needs to weigh the costs vs the reward...your chip stack vs bet size, your position, when will the next full moon be

No one would be in there playing badly if they couldn't get saved by the deck, but keep playing badly and they will lose eventually.

If everyone played a few hundred thousand hands a year they'd realize having the best hand is no guarantee and that everyone wins and loses their fair share of flips and coolers.

Unfortunately the loudest voices are usually those who played a couple hundred hands, became frustrated with losing, and searched for nefarious reasons to explain the horrible injustice (rigged, bots, cheaters).

For 18 years people have contributed to these type of threads (me included) but how we get there is still a mystery to me.

I will try my theory one more time - simplified equation:

Luck plays into EVERY hand - 50% good luck and 50% bad luck. It is always there.
Skill plays into EVERY hand - do we maximize the 50% good luck opportunities, and do we limit the 50% bad luck opportunities.

If two players are presented with an identical series of hands, the more skillful player will maximize/limit better than the less skillful player (unless of course the less skillful player guesses better).

You start off with an equal math equation that is unproven and also cancels itself out. So really, why no state that if you take luck out of the picture, skill is the main factor and everyone is lucky and it evens out.

So luck doesn’t contribute to any long term variable and the most skilled players have an advantage. Essentially luck contributes zero percent to the over all statically players success and skill is the deciding factor?

i lose so many times to preflop shoves with AA and KK to mediocre hands

i haven't had the privilege to play live poker as the buy-ins are to high at my local casino
