Well, the reason why I went down this far to begin with was losing $9,000 in 2,000 hands of 5/10. You may think I'm the luckiest sonofabitch alive, but the truth is: if I had not had this ridiculous run at 5/10 back in '08, I never would have had to rebuild.
Also, if I had been smart enough to move down real quick, I would not have had to rebuild. So yeah, call me lucky if you like, but I feel like I've worked for this. And suffered for it too.

On top of that, I just told my parents that I dropped out of college in order to pursue a career in photography (self-taught), with financial backing through poker. Scary shit. They didn't even know I play poker.

Up until now, my poker career hasn't seen me make a lot of cashouts. I've made a few 3-figure-cashouts a couple of times, but that's it.

Today, I've submitted a 5-figure-cashout to my bank account, and boy, I cannot wait for the money to get here. Virtual moniez is a'ight, but real moniez is TEH NUTS!!! I'm so excited, had to send Stars my ID and a utility bill. I'm glad they take this shit seriously.

Beat: Bankroll reduced by 1/4th
Brag: First SERIOUS cashout ever
Variance: I hope there'll be none
Pretty solid brag!
Congrats :)

10k cashout is so unbelievably sick and balla, thats more than i've ever made in my entire poker career :(. In my defence, im much more of a bankroll nit, and play much much much less a day

I just got off another 60 minute phone call, and they took it surprisingly well. Initially, they were shocked (ldo), but ultimately they concluded that I'm gonna do my thing and they'll back me up no matter what. I'm very emotional right now..

pretty cool man. i took interest because i'm probably gonna be doing the same thing (minus the photography part). except i'm thinking of trying the "taking a year off from school" angle as opposed to "dropping out"? so my mom can get used to the idea, then once i show her i had a good year of earnings i say i don't want to go back? it's sort of dishonest since i'll really have no intentions of going back to school, but it might be a better way to do it

You strike me as the type of chap who can make it work Chris.

Good luck and may all your Aces hold.

I like that line :D

I don't intend to play poker for the rest of my life, it would tilt me beyond belief. Right now, it's a means to an end (maybe for one or two years), and then I want to do what I really love. Hopefully, Poker can build me a significant financial cushion, so that's what I'm aiming for.
I also told my parents that I was going to pay them back a ton of money because they financed my education. My mom jokingly said, "you can buy your Dad a Porsche." 3,000,000 FPPs anyone? :D

If your parents have any doubts about your future, first show them the cashout you just did. If they still aren't impressed, show them your bankroll. At least that is what I would do. ;)
Glad you found what to do in life. I'm still figuring that out, but that's what college is for! :p

I do this all the time to my family, cause I am baller

(on the other hand I've paid for family holidays for parents and in-laws for the last few years with poker cash so they kind of get the point)

My wife and I sit down and go over my PT3 graph/stats occasionally. She still worries that I'm "going to lose all our money" despite the fact that I've only ever made 1 deposit of $50, so once every few months she asks. You're right she doesn't fully understand but she sees the overall up sloping line and feels more assured.

Of course she also knows exactly how to log in and withdrawal from my BR should it be necessary. I don't think she'd ever clean me out on the way out the door but if she does, it will be my own damn fault I'm sure.
