Thx, it seems to have flown by.
Guess I'm a spamwhore.

On another note I just flopped a set of nines back to back on the same table and won a grand total of $5 :(

FWIW, I'd love to be able to make enough $$ playing poker to go BACK to college. I love(d) school.

And remember children, knowledge is power!

yeah but knowing what range to flat on the btn vs. an 18/13 UTG at 6max is +EV and EV can buy power

Honestly I'm prolly going back to school purely for learning in the coming months.

You know how weird it feels and how dumb you seem when you go out with friends who are like becoming doctors in <4 years, and you have nothing to contribute to the conversation except "I PLAY POKER DUDE"...

My area of Toronto blacked out for a whole day/night earlier this week and I had nothing to do but read (The God Delusion ftw). It was so long since I read, I forgot how interesting it can be.

So much win.

I recommend his Selfish Gene and Blind Watchmaker books as well. They're quite a bit heavier (in terms of content) than TGD but oooooohhhhhhh so interesting.

I remember analysing about a billion function curves for inflection points and whatnot back in 13th grade. We specifically asked our teacher "what will we need this for?". He answered, "you won't, unless you want to become a math teacher."

He was right, too.

I honestly couldn't get through the selfish gene. I have a newer version with footnotes and references and stuff that literally take up more than a third of the book. A THIRD. Dawkins in that book reminds me of my annoying friend who argues everything to the death, even when he's wrong. Even though I put Dawkins' intellect level several stories higher than my friend, it still bugs me that the whole book is basically an argument.

The other thing with that book is that the language is honestly just too complex for me. I found myself googling/looking through the dictionary at least once per page. It took me like 3 months to read half the book.

before anyone gets on me for this, i would just like to say i was definitely jk. knowledge and education are great. i read quite a lot actually. but i prefer self-education and just don't like the schooling process anymore. or maybe it's just my university and the fact that most of the professors don't give a damn. oh look, powerpoint slides that i will now proceed to read verbatim for you! check it out, i used the typewriter sound effect on this one. for every letter! isn't this cool!

Seriously guys, poker is so sick. If I won't make it at 5/10+, I think I'll always be able to fall back to 2/4 or something. I've already mentioned that heads-up is basically free money, but even 6-max is ridiculuos.
I just played 10 hands for fun (I'm slightly drunk), and people give money away to me. Why does everybody suck so much? It's like sitting in the street for 5 minutes and getting handed 100-dollar-bills.

MP: $407.15 (203.6 bb)
CO: $216 (108 bb)
BTN: $288.30 (144.2 bb)
SB: $261.95 (131 bb)
BB: $203 (101.5 bb)
Hero (UTG): $208.25 (104.1 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is UTG with T

I would definitely consider going and finishing a degree at some point. It's just so incredibly +life-ev and it's nice to have a back-up plan.

That said I've probably studied/learned more at poker in the last month than I learned in all my classes combined for the year and a half I was there.

This stuff happens at random, not because they think you're a bot. Has happened to me before as well. Just type it in and you'll be fine.
