With whatever variance there may be, I consider that it is a game of skill that must be accompanied by a touch of luck.

Poker is a combination of luck and skill. I believe that skill is the determining factor in the long run.

Poker is a game that combines elements of both luck and skill. The outcome of individual hands or sessions in poker can be influenced by luck, as the distribution of cards is random and uncontrollable. However, over the long run, skill becomes the dominant factor in determining success in poker.

Luck: In the short term, luck plays a significant role in poker. The cards dealt and the outcomes of specific hands can have a considerable impact on the immediate results. A player can receive favorable or unfavorable hands, and luck can influence the timing of critical card draws. Luck also plays a role in how opponents' play their hands, as their decisions can impact the overall outcome of the game.

Skill: Poker is widely recognized as a game of skill because the decisions and actions taken by players have a substantial impact on their long-term results. Skillful players consistently make better strategic decisions, including hand selection, bet sizing, reading opponents, and managing their bankroll. They understand and apply mathematical concepts, probabilities, and game theory to gain an edge over their opponents.

Skillful poker players focus on making positive expected value (EV) decisions, which means that their actions are likely to be profitable in the long run, regardless of the outcome of any individual hand. They can successfully bluff, extract value from their opponents, and minimize their own losses. Skill in poker involves understanding and managing risk, adapting to different playing styles, and constantly improving one's knowledge and strategies.

It's important to note that the presence of luck does not negate the skill factor in poker. In fact, the element of luck adds excitement, variability, and opportunities for players of different skill levels to experience both wins and losses. Skilled players consistently outperform less skilled players over a large sample size of hands or tournaments.

Ultimately, while luck can have short-term effects on poker outcomes, skill is the determining factor in long-term success. The most successful poker players combine skillful decision-making with a deep understanding of probabilities and game dynamics to consistently achieve positive results over time.

Skills help more in poker, but you can't do without luck.

Yeah, luck is involved, but the same players end up at final tables of tournaments every year for a reason.

The answer to this question everyone can give themselves. I think it is a game of skill and math with elements of luck in the ratio of about 65% skills and 35% luck.

Like any card game, luck influences, but it also depends a lot on the skill of the players, luck influences when you go all in vs another pre-flop player, otherwise you can always depend on your skills

If you play on freerolls skill doesn't matter there is always some random dude who goes all in with 8-3 and gets a full-house vs your AA, There is no logic on free rolls
If you play a serious tournament with money then its a bit different its like 80% reading the enemy and skill- 20% luck

It always depends on both factors, but the % is different in different types of modalities. For example, in ggpoker all in or fold there is a bigger part that depends on luck (although there is space for strategy), while on regular tables its mostly strategy

If the most skilled play has terrible luck they'll lose. Stats is such that it should balance out over time, but it might not. It's not impossible to toss a hundred times and it come down heads every time - just very unlikely.

Hi :)
Every day I see players who pretend they have good hands and then post about poker being rigged. Luck is an integral part of the game, but skill and experience are the basis for long-term success.

Poker is a game where you need to be skilled in order to be lucky. Therefore, skill comes before luck, but it does not make it dispensable.

Poker is a game of knowledge and skills with luck involved. If you think anything different, then you aren't making it as a poker player in my opinion.

probably more than 60% luck. Today, I was unlucky in the freerolls game, I was eliminated one step before going to the main tournament. prize winners 75, and I 81 ( prize winners 8, and I 11 (
I am trying 3 already to enter the $1 million tournament. Wish you success)

I think poker is a game of chance where players with experience and skill will have an advantage. Luck is of course an integral part of the game, without luck nothing will succeed, but skills and experience improve the player's chances of luck.
