I actually like playing online it sure is boring but I am there to make money. I am also a guy who likes to play a lot faster and live play is just too slow. I wouldn’t mind playing live but they don’t offer 6Max cash game tables which kinda sucks because I am much better at a 6max game than 9max. Online gets fun when you have people talking in the chat bar but in no way is equivalent to live conversation.

I think online Poker is a good alternative to live Poker.... you have to think of people who maybe do not want to go outside or just want to play while they are watching TV....

And I like online poker more - you can play several tables, the same freerolls only online. It is unlikely that when they come to the casino they will give them to play for free. Various bonuses are also offered to players.
The only downside is a poor Internet connection, because of which you can lose your funds.
And also, instant payments of funds from poker rooms do not always occur.

I agree that poker is a much better game live than online any day of the week. But having online poker is better than having nothing at all online. I know it is a distant second to live play. I like having another option to live poker with having online poker.

To play live, you need to get ready, dress up, go to the casino, change money for chips... And in online poker, you just need to turn on your computer, the Internet, go to the poker room and you can play. Perhaps someone is bored, but online seriously saves time.

I think that there are pros and cons to both types of poker.
And whilst I agree that sometimes it can feel like there is something missing, there are ways and means to get around these shortfalls.

So "human interaction" is a big one for many. Before the plague, I was part of a monthly poker group who would meet on the first Friday of every month. Some of us also played at a monthly game downtown (in the back of a sports pub), and others further played at the casino occasionally.

Since the pandemic, our group has got stronger and more close knit, yet we have not seen each other since March 2020. What happened? We went online. And further, one of the guys set up a private VoIP server (using "Mumble") and we all downloaded the client. So now we have a game, and everyone is "on the call". We haven't bothered with video...just audio. But it makes all the difference in the world.

Instead of monthly, we now play weekly. It is a highlight of my week. And by all accounts, this little club has got us through this situation (so far) with a modicum of sanity.

Boredom however is rarely an issue. If I do find myself getting bored, the risk is that I will play hands that I shouldn't. The solution there is to open up additional games. Two is all I need to reduce that boredom factor. (The second game essentially doubles the hands you can play. Still bored, open a third and perhaps a fourth game. You'll not have time for boredom.

Have you ever gone out for a poker tourney and been knocked out in the first hour? First 15 minutes? First hand? It really sucks to travel for a game and get knocked out early. You might have to wait around for hours for others before exiting. Or you may have a distance to travel, so that can suck too.

When I go "out" to play, rather than having poker come to me, I spend more on booze, smokes and snacks too. At home, there is barely time to have a smoke as the breaks are so short on PokerStars, and I don't drink when I play at home.

Add on top of that that I've made more in the past month on Poker Stars then I had in the previous year playing live, and there is competition between online and live.

For my live games, they were always the same. The same game, the same blind structure, the same number of people, the same payout. LIVE was the boring bit there. With online poker, there are so many more games to try out and in different formats, so it becomes easier to find the game where YOU have the edge.

All this notwithstanding, I'm hoping that when the plague dies out, we return to out monthly live game, but with weekly online games in between.

There really is no reason for finding online poker boring. There are so many options available to you and so many games running concurrently that there is always action to be had. If you still find it boring, I would suggest online poker just isn't for you. There's nothing wrong with that, but you probably want to spend your time doing some else that you find more fulfilling.

For sure it can't be compared to live Poker, but the thing is that online Poker is more flexible, it allows people to even work while playing it. And not to mention if you're playing on a phone. And people nowadays might like that flexibility.

Online it is much more convenient from any point, please play, several tables, a lot of prize promotions, all the amenities. Live poker I have not played hard to compare.

Poker on-line can be boring, but live games can be just as boring when you are drawing card dead, not getting any decent hands, can go on for hours in a live game, just as it happens on-line, you then start to lose interest and start playing more mediocre type hands. This is the time when you should really start to tighten your game as playing loose with a short stack is a sure recipe for disaster.
Also when you are in a Live tourney with 20 or 30 other tables you can hear the other players around you having a laugh and a joke but your table is full of shy retiring types and trying to get a conversation going is tough work.
It is all in the luck of the draw. I know most of the guys I play with at our local Pub and yes we usually have a good crack and have a real fun night, we keep the stakes low and there is never any trouble from bad losers, because they know they will get revenge on the next Poker night.
On line it is very different, as not many like to start up a conversation typing messages back and forth, and with players from all over the World, sometimes there are language barriers.
But the beauty of on-line poker is you can play what you want, when you want, and sit around in your Pyjamas if it makes you more comfortable, You do not need to travel great distances, or wait around for a game to start at a set time, or spend a small fortune on drinks and snacks.
