The World Poker Tour crowned another new champion in Cyprus. This time it was Iran’s Farbod Nazari who accomplished the feat, winning $368,900 in the $3,500 event for his first championship title — and six-figure cash.
“I want to thank WPT and all of the organizers and staff for putting together such a great event,” said Nazari following his win. “I’m so happy.”
And why wouldn’t he be. That prize total includes a $10,400 seat to t e season-ending WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas for being the last of 520 entrants standing. The top 65 cashed at least $7,700.
Shadi Rizk of Lebanon was the runner-up. The $238,000 he took for second is also is largest tournament cash, dwarfing his second-best of $18,000.
China’s Weiran Pu brought more tha $4 million in cashes to the event, but stalled in third for $175,500.
Moldova’s Mihai Trofim also cashed his first six-figure ticket for finishing fourth for $130,000. Romania’s Sergiu Cornea pushed his lifetime tournament cashes over the half-mill mark with a fifth-place finish for $97,000, who followed Sami Ayyoub, or Jordan, who was the first off the WPT final table in sixth for $73,000.

The WPT now heads to Jacksonville, Florida for the WPT bestbet Scramble Championship at bestbet Jacksonville. The $5,000 buy-in Championship event runs Sept. 4-9 and features a $1 million guaranteed prize pool, culminating with a livestreamed final table on Sept. 9. The WPT bestbet Scramble festival is currently underway and runs through Sept. 9.
