Because we all know that emotion changes for some the value....of money, or free chips.....
and these people never make final tables.....

Poker involves strategy and decision making, so its an interesting game irrespective of the money.

Money/reward only adds to the competitive nature of the game and make it more interesting.

Yeah, I first played without any money and only with my friends. I love playing chess very often and you can make money with it but only in big roles.

Poker would definitely lose a lot without money. However, the essence of the game has not changed. Many players are still playing for play money. At the same time, they enjoy the game and do not experience unnecessary stress. Of course I'm not talking about myself.

Yes, but only live poker. I think it's very nice to play with friends, to bluff and read your opponents. I would definitely would still play poker, but probably would not spend that much time playing, maybe only on the weekends.

I think it's interesting too. It would work without money if the players wanted to win but most of the time without money people do not play properly as they are not risking anything.

i am glad i stumbled upon this thread

for i am uniquely qualified like no other

I had a warrant for some years and I couldn't even get an id to open a bank account or verify my bodog/bol account.

So I won 1st place in the 5k and the 2k R+A in the same day had over 4k in my balance and they wouldn't give me the money

So I just kept playing for the love of the game
and I created the Who's the Chipleader thread and the unsurmountable persona AKQ

I think this question has some much deepness. And if i think more and more about it it would be not easier to answer. Long time overall all players it is a loosing situation. Because of the rake. But you have allways this believing that you get this one run. But thats not only lotto. If you would win some big money you must develop a bankroll to play the big tourneys with the lifetime changing wins. So iam play alot but only micro stakes and get some nice cashes. If you realistic you could not win without developing your game and investing alot of time train your game.
