What a heroic performance from England! Surely one the greatest world cup matches? Mexico threw everything to try and come back but England defended like lions to hold on.

FIFA has lifted Florian Balogun's red barrier for the World Cup round of 16 against Belgium. It became a “trial period.” US media report that Donald Trump himself is said to have called FIFA boss Gianni Infantino earlier. The US president has congratulated FIFA on lifting the suspension.

Balogun had hit his opponent Tarik Muharemovic hard but obviously unintentionally in a duel against Bosnia-Herzegovina and saw red in return.

Oh yeah it's shocking - bare faced corruption on full display again. Always has been, always will under this organisation.

I see the former evil mastermind behind this enterprise is tweeting away about this injustice , as if everything would be fair and transparent if only we re-installed him to his former post. It wouldn't surprise me if he ran again and won, despite him being in his 90's. It also wouldn't surprise me though if that's all for show, and he's actually been secretly been running the show for the past decade from a hidden office inside the walls of FIFA HQ, and poor old Infantino is merely his puppet.

Do you mean Blatter? He was an angel compared to Infantino. That conehead shows Blattter what real corruption is.
Yes FIFA was always corrupt but mainly how hosts get decided. Those who pay the most get to be host.
Up until this world cup, corruption wasn't so blatantly on display though..Even visible on the playfield
Must be the Trump effect. He literally is enabling moral decay

My pick right now would be France.
They look the most complete team left in the tournament strong defensively, dangerous in attack, and they’ve handled the knockout stage well so far. But with teams like Spain, Argentina and England still in it, there’s still a lot that can change.

Nah more like Spain follows Mexico footsteps and concedes first goal(s) of the tournament which eventually see them eliminated.
It is either that or Belgium shows what great injustice actually is and makes sure US would experience the same fate like other co-hosts did earlier in this round ...

Might as well call this the World Cup of cheating and grifting ,corruption right to the core,but people will flock to it like sheep,my bet the fix is in on every game,love the game but with all the diving and player's rolling around like they been shot is just embarassing,these guys wouldn't last 10 minutes on a rink of 10 year olds the way they react just pathetic and their paid more money then any sport,the world stage of diving just sickening and people actually cheer for them and make excuses for it

This s incredibly serious for football.

We essentially have someone who doesn't understand football at all making decisions for the world game! It can only end in total disaster.

Again though this iss FIFA's fault, as they don't have a legitimate appeals process. I hope England also get Quansah's ban suspended too.

Also the only way this is somehow slightly OK is if Belgium beat the USA, if they don't, this World Cup is in serious doubt in terms of how credible it is!

Forecasts are a terrible idea, and that's why football is fun. Also, don't throw eggs my way haha.
Out of the remaining teams only 4 are top level, so one of them is our likely champion - Argentina, France, Spain, England. 2nd tier - Portugal, Belguim. Darkhorse - Norway. One of these 7, but one is out today.

Argentina and Spain look the strongest contenders, in my opinion. I would wanna say Argentina is most likely, but they haven't had a single truly strong opponent yet, nor will they tomorrow.
France were pathetic vs Paraguay, so if they don't seriously up their game, nah. I bet they will beat Morocco though, likely not without some trouble.
Norway could get up to semis, but England will be difficult. England is a wild card, you never know with them lol. Would be cool if they finally got it, good luck to England.
Portugal seems to have a decent lineup, but it's a one-man show again, and the results are underwhelming; they got really lucky against Croatia.
Belgium I got nothing to say about, haven't seen any of their play.

P.S. I'm gonna support Portugal and Norway, just in case.
