From all the games I have watched this World Cup France with their midfield will be really tough to beat,Spain hasn't lost a match it seems like forever so those 2 seem to be the teams slightly more complete than the others,looks like a France -Spain semi-final,and sorry England .Norway- Argentina in the other, I think these are the 4 best of the teams left,but what the heck does a Canadian know about soccer ! What they need to do is start handing out yellow cards with the constant flopping around on the ground when they get brushed by an opponent ,how and why do the billions of fans put up with that crap,and a bigger question is what kind of sport is it really with all the diving and belly flopping these so called Pro's do,I would be so embarrassed from anyone on my team that acted in such away what are these men or school boy's,what professional sport would put up with such blatant diving unless its corrupt to the core,love the sport if they could get rid of the crap I just mentioned but they won't until the fans demand it,I could never cheer for someone who constantly fakes being hurt game in and game out when re-plays show their hardly even touched,happens 30 plus times a game just pathetic,do the players all go to acting school in the off season

I watched the Colombia game. Maybe now you see the point I was making . A bit stronger opponent and... out. It's important how many chances end up in the net, not how impressive it looks. Colombia scores 1 goal per game, wasting too many opportunities, just like in this game, you can see it in the highlights and in the stats. Can't imagine Norway missing so much. The analysis was correct except the prediction that they will win lmao.

P.S. Please, don't tell me Switzerland is super strong and will be a real test for Argentina. And Colombia wouldn't. Maybe only because they somehow concede 2g a game from weaker sides lol.

And just in case, it's a given that by 1/8 there are no 'weak' teams already. Everybody understands that. A weak team at best may advance from the group and maybe through the 1st play-off round, but they can't get lucky until this stage. But there are still 'weaker' teams.

Aun así, todavía existen equipos más débiles.

Nobody talks about super teams here, at least not me. I repeat what I said Colombia is better than Mexico and than Norway. And it was better in today's match against Switzerland but they missed their chances of scoring. Anyway, I'm sad for Colombia but happy because I would rather play against Switzerland

What a game that was yesterday! The stadium was crazy in those 12 minutes Argentina was scoring. I guess we can't write Messi off just yet.

I hope England wins on Saturday so we can see England vs Argentina next Wednesday. That would be crazy. Of the games we have seen so far England and Argentina have had the loudest fans (and they drink the most lol).

For me Norway and Spain. I can't stand Mbappé. What a brilliant, incredibly arrogant arse of a football player.
I guess the same goes for Messi.
I never liked Christiano Ronaldo's style of play but I respect him deeply for all the social aid he's doing. Especially for kids

It's now getting easier to count the games where there isn't a plausible accusation of fixing/unfair treatment than the ones that don't have such problems. Even if the claims were groundless (and I don't think they are), it's awful to see what VAR is doing to the game - we saw this also the other night with England having a sending off (unintentional but not unreasonable) and a penalty given against them (very soft, surely seen by the referee, and not a 'clear and obvious error'). Somehow we managed to win, but it could have easily been enough to push the result the other way if Mexico finished better. If this world cup finally opens up fans eyes to what this organisation is doing to the sport, then it would even be worth tolerating an Argentina victory.

Well, the American continent is only represented by one national team. And that team is literally in the southernmost part of the continent.
And Africa is now represented only by Northwest Africa. And Asia is represented by no one.
And there are 6 European teams there.
They used to joke that the World Cup was Europe plus Argentina and Brazil. Almost.

They flop on plays to make it look like charging in the NBA , and Q Backs + kickers exaggerate contact to get ' roughing' calls . Nothing new about trying to influence the officials .

No they don't,you don't see NBA player's rolling around on the floor when someone brushes past them or they jump up for rebounds .not even close to what Soccer player's do,and don't call them football player's it is an insult to real men who don't roll around crying like babies,trying to compare a quarterback getting pummeled 50 times a game to a whining soccer player is insulting to real men everywhere,they want respect they need to stop acting like whinny school boys
