When I was in Vegas the week after the 4th of July, during the Main, I stayed at Flamingo for the first time. Got to be in one of the renovated rooms, it was nice! Also played poker in their poker room for the first time. I liked the feel more than places like Bellagio and Aria. Good place to play if you are new to the game. Met some cool people at the games I played in, which helped make the experience an awesome one!

That's good to hear. I stayed at the Flamingo 7 or 8 years ago and it was a dump.

flamingo

Last time I was in Vegas I played some cash in the flamingo games were good

Places

My favorite place to eat in vegas was alwatys the taco truck close to the new orleans my favorite place to play cahs games was rio favorite place to play tournaments was the Orleans

I like motel 6! Its off the strip. When you just wanna get some piece and quiet after a big win!

I think it's a dream for every player to get the vegas so I thank you for all this information. Who knows if maybe I will be fulfilled and my dream of getting there ever

FWIW Golden Nugget in downtown is a 1-2 but it is an uncapped buy-in

Be warned, as you can imagine, it plays much higher than a 1-2 at times!

Were the prices super high here? I've never been to Vegas but am hoping to try a few wsop events this Summer. I've been looking around for a good cheap room that's close. And can't get closer than right there lol. Thank's for this thread, been wondering about a place that would have all this info easy to find.

Sorry - I missed this. They are fairly reasonable most of the year but jack up their prices during the wsop.

I like convenience, so I usually stay at Bally‘s. It center strip. Their rates are usually pretty good, however, the resort fees end up being more than the room. Thanks Caesars! They’ve got a great steakhouse in there, BLT. Had the best meal of my life there after cashing in the Colossus in 2016.

circus Circus has good deals on rooms and a great buffet!
circus circus has the best steakhouse on the strip the rooms smell a bit but the price is reasonable and all the times i stayed i was able to get a poker rate. my favourite place to eat was the wynn buffet for brunch. rgs tom

Blue Ribbon Sushi at Red Rock Casino.... must eat! It's very expensive though. But the atmosphere, service, and sushi itself is some of the best I have ever experienced.

Last trip I stayed at Cosmo and played at Planet Hollywood and Ballys. Mostly tourists at PH and regulars at Ballys. Both were ok, but definitely behind Wynn and Venetian for cleanliness, comfort and amenities.

Places to eat i Vegas

I am looking forward to trying the places to eat in Vegas. One of the ones I am looking forward to is Wahlburgers and many others.

the wynn, no doubt... and a new one is soon in Boston, so no need for vegas anymore!

Vegas

Best place to play during wsop by far hands down is Rio but I liked the steak taco truck they had on Tropicana Ave was cheap and by far best tacos I've ever had

I will give you a few hints I use.
First, don't stay at the Rio. You will pay their Facility fee even if you get comped. Stay at the Gold Coast across the street. I get comped at least 2 nights and they wave their fees. (I'm their starting level on BConnected)
Personally, I jump around. My girlfriend also gets comped so we stay at Gold Coast 4 nights and Orleans 2 nights, All free! Same thing with food. Fridays is in Gold Coast and they have great specials. They have the best Oriental restaurant in Vegas. Orleans has a great Oriental restaurant also at very affordable prices.

If you don't want a rental car, they have a shuttle that goes from each property and the strip.

For travel, I use the Southwest card all year and get points. We earned enough that my girlfriend flies free and we travel all around. I highly recommend!

Gold Coast is where I was planning on staying when I go this Summer. It seems like a less pricey option. How did you get the fees waved? And thank you for the review definitely makes me feel better about my choice.

Here is my opinion on 5 places to play poker in Vegas:

Caesar's Palace:
Medium rake and good comps. There's always a table available from 1/2 and up. I also like Caesar's because I have a Harrah's nearby me that now counts towards Caesar's Rewards and points. Harrah's Vegas, The Flamingo, Cromwell, The Linq, Bally's, Rio, and a couple of others are also under Caesar's Rewards to gain points and comps.

Aria:
Medium rake and good comps. Also, there's usually a table available for 1/2 on up. I believe Aria is where a lot of the Vegas pros play.

Golden Nugget:
Definitely my favorite place to play downtown. Medium rake and comps are okay. Tables are usually filled, so it's a good idea to plan ahead of time.

Sam's Town:
Low rake and low comps. On the east side of town away from the strip, but they have the lowest tournament buy-ins in all of Vegas (from around $25 and up).

Red Rock Casino:
Medium rake and good comps. On the west side of town, this is a great off-the-strip casino where a lot of locals play. Their sportsbook area is pretty awesome, too! And the buffet is cheap and packs a punch for the price.

Hey everyone, if you're coming to Las Vegas as a fan or player for the WSOP, I wrote up an article on 50 Vegas tips from a local (me).

If you have any other questions about where to stay and play or what to do, feel free to ask!

If you have a ceasars rewards, check online once in a while, randomly we got five free nights (you have to pay the resort fee) also note they put us in the worst room behind the bank of elevators, so we had to pay $50 for an upgrade to get a decent room.

Cosmpolitan resort has their new little food court type thing you can grab fried chicken (Hattie B's/donut, etc. might save a bit of money there over a sit down restaurant. Also hidden pizza at Cosmopolitan, you could grab a slice instead of a sit down meal.

If you sit at the video poker at the chandelier bar, the bar tender told us you have to do a minimum one dollar a hand bet to get the free drink, and you go through the money pretty fast, so probably not worth it to get a free drink.

The new Eataly at the Park MGM is pretty cool, but very expensive. You can pick out a raw steak for them to cook, or fish, they just add a fee to the amount of the meat. Only issue is then you have to look for a free table, but you just paid a lot for you meal, now you are wandering around, weird.

A nice dinner out at Mon Ami Gabi, at Paris>? I think, will probably come to 200$ usd, depending on drinks. You will need a reservation though at dinner time there was a lineup.

The Luxor has a good mexican restaurant, diablo's Cantina, I think it used to be at Park MGM now it's moved there.

The Fantasy show at Luxor has atleast half the crowd of women, which is cool. The pictues always show approx 10-12 dancers, but there were only 8 that night, and they seem to take forever inbetween sets so you will have to listen to host (good singer) and comedian (great comic) for ridiculous amounts of time-especially since you came to see a topless review not a singing comedy show?! weird.

Zumanity was definately worth it, especially if you can get a discount (I used my points from myvegas game on Vegas to get 50% off tickets.

Uber seems to be cheaper than cabs, but if you are taking a cab, try to pay with cash, because they have some extra fee for paying with credit card.

If you love coffee, try to find a way to make it in your room, like bring a mini keurig or something, the lines are sometimes 12-20 people in the mornings at the hotels (starbucks or similiar) and it ended up costing 11CND for two coffees everyday, and it really adds up.

Only I think three hotels do Food and Beverage min for daybeds at the pools (I think MGM< Cosmo, and one other) I'd say it's worth it, rather then paying for a daybed at Planet Hollywood, and just getting a bed (weird their beds are like really high off the ground), you can get Cosmpolitan food/beverage and drink /eat lunch, etc, and really relax, it's a bit pricey but better then a bed with nothing else included. The pool at Planet Hollywood felt like it had an ice berg floating in it at end of April, not sure how long it will take to heat up to a reasonable temperature. The bathrooms at the Planet Hollywood pool look like an old Sears bathroom. The pool at Park MGM seemed to have a lot of shade/sun seats for free.

There are Sprinkles cupcake vending machines at the airport on the way out if your plane serves awful food. The lineups for security at the airport were OUT Of control! Get there way before you think you should.

Even though I'm afraid of heights the Linq High Roller Wheel wasn't that bad. Try to find a discount, I think through your rewards program you can get a discount.

The Yardhouse has great happy hour half priced appetizers, in Linq mall.

If you can somehow get to Total Wines and more before you go to your hotel, they have an excellent selection and price.

Luke's Lobster outside the fashion mall is pricey but if you LOVE lobster and want to treat yourself, it's awsome, we had the roll and the bisque and was 10/10.

Shake Shack at NY NY was always excellent everytime we went.

Keep in mind we are from Canada, so of course we find things pricey when the exchange rate screws us. Even if you go to a takeout counter in Vegas the cash machine will ask for a tip.

I second Luke's Lobster.

You have some great reviews and tips...thanks for that!

Where do you fly out of? How often do you go to Vegas? Which hotel do you prefer?

This CardsChat article was also an interesting read >>> https://www.cardschat.com/news/free...eal-ticket-for-real-money-vegas-rewards-80377 also this >>> https://www.cardschat.com/news/dont...-these-books-full-of-deals-and-freebies-80585

We may also need a "Where NOT to stay and Eat" thread. I booked my room at the Rio for the upcoming WSOP Colossus Cardschat team event. I emailed ahead to find out if any of their restaurants have gluten free options. Their response was, "talk to your server and the chef will help you." I pressed further asking specifically about gluten free breads, pastas and desserts (I already know that a steak on a plate with nothing else is gluten free), to which they responded that they do not provide such options...so if you have special dietary needs, the Rio is definitely NOT for you.

Hey All!

I made a little video series on this topic and dove a little deeper on other topics such as recovery, tilt management, and how to save money and time in vegas during the WSOP. I'm not sure how to post videos so I'll just go link by link.

If you have any questions about what I share in the videos feel free to send me a message!

Note: Please disregard the promo at the end of the tilt video, that offer expired a while back but Youtube won't let me chop off the end of the video after it's already been posted.

Hope to see some of you there! I'll be in town for all of July!
Let's get stackin!!!

I'm not sure how we are going to add all that to the first post, but some great stuff in there! (I skipped a lot of the strategy and went right to the info 🙂)

never traveled to the west coast so I can only imagine all the things to see out there. Been awhile since I've been to a big city haha. Might have to make it a backlist kinda thing.🙂:bebored:
