Out of the remaining teams only 4 are top level, so one of them is our likely champion - Argentina, France, Spain, England. 2nd tier - Portugal, Belguim. Darkhorse - Norway. One of these 7, but one is out today.
Argentina and Spain look the strongest contenders, in my opinion.
Ok, fun to revisit my original post and follow-ups. The 4 top teams all ended up in the semis (predictably) and I picked the two strongest ones correctly. Also, noted France's and Portugal's weakness and even got some scores/goal amounts right.
Now with Argentina actually having played a top notch opponent, I bet on Spain. Argentina is playing a dagerous game, where they fall behind late and have to rebound or concede equalizers when ahead. Spain's defense proved superb and neutralized some of the best attackers in the world, so that rebound trick is unlikely to work against Spain. Argentina's offense is stronger, they're better at longshots than France, and Messi is on fire. If he gets the 2nd WC he will remain in history as the best player of the century if not ever, I'm sure he's just as aware of that hehe. My take is
45% to ARG nd 55% to SPA. Interestingly, bookies also see Spain as the favorite. The score in this one is really hard to approximate, obviously. I would expect an U3 (max 3 goals) game, like with France, nothing like goal fiesta of the 2022 final and a tense game instead.
As for FRA - ENG, I really don't know lol.
odds are skewed towards France. I don't think they are as clear of a favorite here as they are seen. They are bad vs defensive teams but England isn't one of them, though in the semi ENG's defense was doing well in the 1st half. Because of the England's tendency to concede 2g a game they will likely concede at least one and need to score 2g themselves against France's defense that is better than theirs. So, France is my pick here as a
slight favorite. Is will be glad to be wrong on this game lol.
