Aside from blackjack, there's another popular game out there called three card poker. It's fun, but the action is very slow. At some point they decided to combine three card poker into blackjack, so players can have nonstop action, and enjoy both games at once. Lesson 3. 21 Plus 3-- the three card poker side bet. In the side bet, you're looking to make a good three card poker hand using your two cards and the dealer's up card.
So for example, if you're dealt a 10 of spades, and a Jack of spades, and the dealer has a three of spades-- three cards of the same suit is a flush. And it pays 5-1. Let's say you're dealt a five, six and the dealer has a seven, that's a straight and it pays 10-1. Or if you're dealt two fives, and the dealer has a five that's three of a kind and it pays 30-1.
If you have a seven, eight of spades and the dealer gets a nine of spades that's a straight and a flush together. That gives you a straight flush, which pays out at 40-1. If you're fives are spades and the dealer gets a five of spades as well, that is a suited three-of-a-kind and pays a cool 100-1. In order to make this side bet, you must slide your wager in the appropriate area at the same time that you make your blackjack bet.
Keep the side bet Min and Max in mind when you do. They're usually 10% of the maximum blackjack bet. As you can see, this side bet can be very attractive when you hit the big payouts. Here's a recap on the different payouts you can get on the side bet. Flush pays 5-1. Straight pays 10-1. Three of a kind pays 30-1, and a straight flush pays 40-1. Suited three-of-a-kind pays 100-1.
