At some point, the casino table game manufacturer wanted to add a variant to enhance the game, and the most common great hand at blackjack is 20. So why not add a variant that paired with queens could encourage a secondary bet while offering a house edge that is attractive for the casino. Not only that, but a 1,000 to 1 payout to the player would be too good for them to pass up. And so the Lucky Ladies bet has grown to be a popular side bet at blackjack tables.
If you have any 20 with a queen in your first two cards, you will win 4 to 1 on the side bets. If both your queens are the same suit, you will win 10 to 1. And if your queens are identical, you get a 20 to 1 payout. However, if your queens are both hearts, you get 125 to 1 payout. If you get that, and the dealer has a blackjack, you've just hit the jackpot, and you win a whopping 1,000 to 1 payout.
Here's a typical payout structure for multi-deck blackjack which is fair for the player but still offers a house advantage. These payouts will differ greatly if you're playing single deck or multi-deck blackjack. Queen of hearts pair and dealer has blackjack will give you a 1,000 to 1 payout. Queen of hearts pair - that payout structure will differ. It could either be a 125 to 1 all the way to 200 to 1. A matched 20, again, different payout structures. It could be 19 to 1 all the way to 25 to 1. A suited 20 typically pays out between 9 and 10 to 1. An unsuited 20 will pay you 4 to 1.
